I had a telephone conversation with my cardiologist yesterday to discuss next step in treatment for AF. After several cardioversions 2 ablations and high doses of medication for rate control he has suggested 3 alternatives.
1) another ablation
2) a biventricular pacemaker with av node ablation.
3) a pacemaker with a cardioversion.
I have never heard of the last one, I would have thought the cardioversion would damage the pacemaker.
Has anyone heard of or had this procedure? Perhaps I misunderstood and the cardioversion comes first before the pacemaker is fitted.
I find it difficult with telephone consultations to take everything in, or is that just an age thing!?

Hi I had a cardiac arrest 2 years ago and have an ICD fitted, everything was fine until about 6 weeks ago when I became lightheaded. I’ve been told I have AF and need a cardio version in about 6 weeks after they put me on blood thinners. Anything is possible and I would take on board what the specialist suggests - good luck
