Wanted to share some good news. I have had a call from HF nurse today with regards to my Echo Scan. On discharge from HA (2.8.2020) my Ejection Fraction was 15%, I am now at 32% (22.9.2020)!!!
Still severe damage, but I'm taking every positive I can!
Feeling very pleased and wanted to share with the Forum.
HF nurse wants to increase Bisoprolol and Ramipril now.
Also talked about Entresto ( Nick!) which I said I was keen to take. She said if I qualify I can have.
Next up MRI Scan this Friday. This will update me on the heart muscle itself and I can expect an update 2 weeks later.
Would like to thank everyone on here for your support and for sharing your stories which have been very important to me and my emtional wellbeing since my HA. Looking forward to hearing more and being able to share my small victories along the way.
Is a small cheeseboard and a smaller glass of Rioja an appropriate celebration for such an occasion?
All feedback welcome!

Jim, that’s fantastic news! So happy for you and your family - it must be a huge boost and believe me you can do a lot with 32%!
I don’t see why you wouldn’t qualify for Entresto. For me the criteria was EF 35 or less and stable on a moderate dose of Ramipril (7.5mg). They’ll want to see how you do with the ramipril for a couple of months first, but keep nudging them.
You’ve definitely earned a little celebration. Personally I’d re-balance the quantities of Rioja vs. cheese, but that’s the old soldier in me 😉
Thanks Nick. Pretty elated at the moment. Your right about me revising Rioja:Cheese ratio. Will try and remember to advise provided Rioja consumption allows!
I had open heart surgery 4 years ago for Aortic valve replaced and bypass, at the age of 68, thought my normal life was over! But here I am grateful every day to the clever medical team who gave me my life back. So you will have many many good days.
Great news massive improvement! hope the performance continues to increase. keep up the positive mental attitude good on you, and keep doing what your doing to improve.
Thanks for taking time out to reply. Yeah couldn't believe the scale of improvement over that short space of time. Hope it continues to improve. Watch this space!
That's great news Jim. Love to hear good news and positive stories from people. Like you, I have severe LV impairment and an EF of 27% after a Cardiac Arrest in Dec 2019. However, I feel well and am back at work and can do most things I did previously (although a little slower)!
As Nick says, keep pushing your HF nurse about Entresto but be patient also as they don't want to rush things. I have just started on Entresto two weeks ago once my HF team were sure my Blood Pressure was ok to take it.
So, enjoy the wine & cheese and celebrate the good news and, as always, be positive.
Thanks Matty, was great to get some positive news. I get the being able to do stuff however slower than pre HA. I am guessing it's due to the wonderful cocktail of drugs that I'm consuming ( prescribed of course! )
Just read info on your HA. Sounds like you have been through the mill also. Great to see you recovering, then posting on here, gives me lots of hope for the future and my ongoing recovery.
I would say a definite yes to the cheese board and the rioja, that is fantastic news, well done, I was on entresto it does make a difference, I hope you are prescribed, take care and I hope you continue to improve, char
