Hi, Good luck today, we all need the answers when it get like that, how long have the stents been in when they started showing signs of blocking? just for us worriers!!

Hi Phil first stent was 22 years and 2nd one was 12 years ago, well 2011 I was told 1 stent had a blockage and 2017 angiogram showed both stents with blockages plus another blockage underneath one of the stents, been on different meds but last 6 mths got worse

Didn’t get sorted yesterday fingers crossed for today

Was your angiogram delayed? If yes, did they say why?

Hiya yes had lots of emergencies in first day, but had it done yesterday afternoon and apparently all clear

Sad about the emergencies (hope every one had a happy result) but SUPER about no new blockages, that's great!

But...symptoms. So, are they going to investigate for microvascular angina and/or vasospastic angina (MVA, VA) or are they going to send you home with a diagnosis of 'angina with normal coronaries'?

My angio came back 'Wow your arteries are crystal clear so the diagnosis is 'angina with normal coronaries' and we'll be looking into MVA' - cardiologist telephoned during the pandemic and told me he's come to the conclusion I do have MVA but isn't going to investigate further unless my symptoms worsen. The queue for the MVA investigation is so long unless an emergency situation, and since my symptoms are so far 'mild-ish' and well controlled we're both happy to let it go for now.

I’ve no idea as yet if there going to investigate I’m still waiting for doctor to do the rounds have been put on sodium tablets as well,

That’s great your arteries are good and your mva is only mild take care of yourself xx

Hi, How did you get on, sorted yesterday? thanks for your reply. First stent 22 years ago, that was an early type of stent and procedure, was it a DES then or bare metal.

Hi Phil angiogram was great apparently it’s all clear ! I’m confused 🤷‍♀️ to say the least

I honesty don’t know about the stents I will have to ask about that !

So no blockages now? have they told you if the previous information was not correct or your body has dealt with it and found its way around the blockages? yes strange but at least its done and all good news!! I bet you slept well last night. For all here its great to hear about long life stents, I am 15 months past my first stent (hopefully my last) and I think so many of us start researching into the life of stents and how they perform and reblocking etc etc so its good to hear. I was just wondering about you first stent as I know the early ones were bare metal and it was only about that time from what I understand the they started to use the drug eluding stents. sorry just info for us hearties!!

Yes it’s great news one of the younger nurses said if it’s a minor blocking it can sometimes clear it’s self when the doctor comes around I’ll ask some questions

And yes I slept really well 💤💤💤

Good luck. Maybe they’ll change your stents and you’ll start to improve.

Oh can stents actually be changed ?

Williemak profile image
Williemak in reply to Smileyian

Something be was having something done to their existing stents at the same time as I had mine fitted. I assumed that they were looking at changing them but I know that he later had open heart surgery, but from what he said it’s not as scary as it sounds.

Good luck whatever happens

Thank you very much. I do not need stents (at least not yet) but I had no idea you could "change" them as tissue grows round them. My best wishes.
