Afib ablation went ok now got atrial flutter from procedure . 2nd ablation due after cardioversion in the interim.

Anyone else had this happen. Afib ablation they reckon was a success but its created atrial flutter now. So having cardioversion to get back into normal SR until second ablation now to stop flutter. Am I just unlucky or are there others that this has happened too.

It seems that a majority of AF patients that have ablation require more than one of the procedures to stop AF long term. My husband electrophysiology indicates to him this was the case and because of his age - 85 - would not do the procedure. Instead he got a pacemaker and it’s worked like a charm. Only a couple of episodes of EF since he has had the device and it’s been over 2 years. 3 episodes were less than 15 minutes and were traced to stress. The other was for 30 hours and was traced to when he had the flu.
