I had a CRT-D fitted 27/3/2020 there is still a lot of glue around the wound - any suggestions for aiding the removal of it as I am currently trying my best not to touch it but only showering doesn’t seem to be working

Mine was fitted 20/03/20 , don’t use soap around the wound, don’t rub either, warm water only. You could try cotton wool and warm water gently dabbing it .But I would not worry about it, also I don’t think it’s glue , possibly antiseptic , which they apply pre-op, it will clear eventually.

It’s definitely medical glue

Yes when I asked the wife she said I had surgy-pro stitch , which she removed after 9days, some times glue is used for skin closures she said. She also said I should listen to what she tells me and not repeat what I think she said, yes boss I replied. My scar healed quickly, with no problems.

No problem, I am not medically trained, but my wife is a Sister at NHS, so I am very lucky.👍

My ICD wound was closed with monocryl and a glue called dermabond. I was told to ignore it, don't play with it and that it would, bit by bit fall off with 4-6 weeks, which it did!

The replies saying don’t touch it will fall off are my experience too. Funnily though, I am an engineer and when I had woken up I asked where the stitches were. Doctor said we used glue and I won’t swear here but I did then and said you can’t use glue you idiot, its only for inorganic bonds! Much laughter from the nurses ensued.

I had a blob of glue which stopped one bit of my wound healing, hard to explain but my skin was trying to grow over the glue, once that bit of glue was removed everything was fine but took a long time.

I recently had an op where they used medical glue. The would was about 4inches. That was 5 weeks ago and the last little bit came off at the 4 week date . You must not help it off or pick at it or it will open the would again. It will shrivel and come off by its self...

Hi once you start getting back to a normal routine and way of life the glue will just disappear. Don't worry about it but don't try and take it off just leave it - good luck
