Left Arm soreness after a stent

Hi everyone

I had a heart attack nearly 3 weeks ago (a huge surprise) had a stent in my RCA, which clogged within 12 hours and they re-stented. I keep getting a soreness in my left arm and feeling nauseous with stomach ache. No chest pain. Is this normal? Drugs? Anxiety? Thanks

Hi

I also had my stent fitted a few weeks ago and I have had a lot of help on here from people that have reassured me that what I am feeling is normal. That said, first of all I am very sorry that you have had complications and wish you a speedy recovery. I would not like to give you any direct advice as I wouldn’t like it to cause you any illness. My only advice would be to contact your GP if you are in any doubt and if the pain continues to get worse you should call A and E.

Hi

Thanks for the help. I was so worried so I went back to ER. Bloods and ECG was ok, so hopefully it’s just my body adjusting and me being anxious. Yes it’s worrying times, and cardiac rehab is on hold at the moment, but I will call them on Monday for advice. Thanks again and I hope you are doing well

That’s good news. With regards to the rehab, the NHS ones are on you tube. I am only on level 2 as like you I have been anxious. Good luck

Hi Squash. Sorry to hear you’ve been having problems, and it hasn’t been straightforward for you. AND at such a worrying time.

Of course you’re anxious....it is very natural to be anxious. I found it a real shock across the bows!

But. I also remember getting odd pains and discomfort, particularly when more lengthy stent procedures were done. I too had a couple redone.

An excellent Cardiac Nurse told me ‘the heart dislikes being messed about with’. It took a while to settle down, and it was uncomfortable to sleep on my left, for a few weeks.

But I think any left arm signs need checking.

Can you ring the Cardiac Unit or Ward you were on?

It is possible your new drugs are related to the nausea.

The GPs seem v good at ringing back at the moment....we’ll, mine is.

Good move! That must have been reassuring?

Such a shame about Rehab, you will be so ready for it when it does start up again.

Keep up the adjustments.
