NHS Letter Coronavirus

So according to Govt site looks like people with Heart problems aren't severely at risk unless they're pregnant.Which I understand why as it's like a double whammy but shouldn't non Pregnant people also be protected as they can get hospitalised too and be in a bad way.At min im down to be off for 14days but worried about going back to work what if I end up getting it as soon as I go back?

Hi, hope you're well. I was also told by my doctor to stay off work for 12 weeks. I had a heart attack in 2006 and have asthma. Maybe it would be worth asking your gp what you should do. Stay well.

Hi,thankyou and we'll I'm not sure tbh but I'm not really bad and hopefully don't become so.See I don't have Asthma however I get breathless abit just walking my energy levels are not how they used to be due to my Heart condition. Not had a Heart attack but have had half of my heart working functional and had problems and had to have an op in 2015 to repair a leaky valve and is still leaking now moderately.

So I'm like high risk but there's conditions higher risk than myself I'm nt sure cause I'm nt really in the list for the 12wks etc.Work have just gave me the 14days much like the general public I dunno I guess see how I am after 14days and address from there if up to me and I will stick to my guns I'd stay self isolated until all blows over.I also live with my Father who is over 60 has Hypertension to an extent and mild COPD and I just wouldn't want to be at work and find out anything happens also only other person in house in my Bro who has Autism and Learning Difficulties and can not look after my Dad at all my Dad is his carer also so another reason why couldn't and wouldn't want to leave my home.

Hello

I think we all just have to follow the advice, Letter or No Letter after all a Letter won't protect us !!

I think you might want to review the list - yes, pregnant women with heart disease are on the high-risk list but so are people who have had a heart attack in the past year, people with kidney disease, people with COPD, people with asthma...the key is to read the latest publication line-for-line all the way to the bottom of the page.

It is not 'just pregnant women with heart disease' - the high risk list is much longer than just the expectant mums.

No, I know that I mean the Heart disease side of things seems to only say about pregnant women with Heart problems when I would of thought Heart disease as a rule would be in the list like all the other conditions listed.

The list includes all sorts of heart disease, not just pregnant women with heart disease.

Maybe we're not looking at the same list - which one are you looking at?

Oh has it been updated since?,on Govt website listed various conditions then last being pregnant women with Heart conditions

I too read pregnant with heart disease bo mention of heart failure or heart disease patients

Hello, wouldn't even know how to contact them tbh.My manager or a manager will ring me once a week apparently to check up on me but at mo I'm just down for 14days off. That's what I would of thought as a precaution I dunno I guess see how I am after 14days but tbh I'm really worried about going back if I have to after 14days but I guess is something I address at time.

I don't have a specific gp and you can't even go into the surgery nomore I had to have my 6 monthly blood test for my meds cancelled as they only doing emergency appts.I'll see after 14days where we are (probably not much further than are now) how I am (hopefully not worse) and what work says and if Govt says owt.I haven't got that letter as of yet from NHS but did get a txt from Govt to stay home but no time frame on it tho apparently it was a general text.

Honestly I'm now at a point where I don't bother looking at the list (as of this morning) as the situation is so 'fluid' the list seems to change hourly.

But, bottom line is, most if not all heart conditions including prenatal women who coincidentally have heart disease, are on the list.

Have you got a letter from the NHS telling you to self-isolate for the next 12 weeks? I haven't got the actual letter yet but was told over the telephone I will be receiving it by Saturday or 'in the next week'. I'm in Scotland.

This is what is on our Govt site:Full list of those falling into the extremely vulnerable group:

solid organ transplant recipients

people with specific cancers

people with cancer who are undergoing active chemotherapy or radical radiotherapy for lung cancer

people with cancers of the blood or bone marrow such as leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma who are at any stage of treatment

people having immunotherapy or other continuing antibody treatments for cancer

people having other targeted cancer treatments which can affect the immune system, such as protein kinase inhibitors or PARP inhibitors.

people who have had bone marrow or stem cell transplants in the last 6 months, or who are still taking immunosuppression drugs.

people with severe respiratory conditions including all cystic fibrosis, severe asthma and severe COPD

people with rare diseases and inborn errors of metabolism that significantly increase the risk of infections (such as SCID, homozygous sickle cell disease)

people on immunosuppression therapies sufficient to significantly increase risk of infection

women who are pregnant and who also have significant heart disease, congenital or acquired.

No mention of Heart Disease as a rule just like I stated in my post seems to only be mentioning Pregnant Women and on NHS site too says the above just more simplified.I'm from UK so probably slightly different then and no, I haven't received the letter or no calls either.

On Govt site regarding letter says:Up to 1.5 million people in England currently live with conditions, or are taking medication or receiving treatment, which health experts have identified puts them at a much greater risk of developing serious complications if they get the virus, which may mean they need hospital treatment.

This includes, for example, those who have received organ transplants, are living with severe respiratory conditions such as cystic fibrosis and severe chronic bronchitis (COPD) or specific cancers like of the blood or bone marrow and some – though not all – of those receiving certain types of drug treatments including ones which suppress the immune system – leaving the body less able to fight off the virus.

People identified as belonging to one or more of the at-risk groups will be contacted by their GP practice, specialist or both strongly advising them to stay at home for a period of at least 12 weeks. Then it lists all of the conditions mentioned above on their site.

Only site that seems to mentioned Heart conditions as high risk is BHF.

I think it's a case of 'all of the above plus:'. This link takes you to the current (updated 23 Mar 2020) where the heart part is listed at the third down in the first section; then if you continue scrolling down you come to the part about high-risk - and you're right, it doesn't say heart disease specifically but only mentions pregnant women with heart disease - but again, I think it's a matter of considering that second section as a plus to the above.

In the end it's a matter of interpretation, just my opinion, of course.

ETA: well it would help if I actually posted the link!

My father always said to me Your health is your wealth’. I never paid any regard to it until I got severe health problems.

Ask your GP to email you a fit note or letter to say that you have to be off work for 12 weeks due to your health conditions . Tell him/her it’s for work . And that if you don’t get it your boss will make you go to work . Better to contact your GP ASAP!

Failing that , you can always get another job , but you can’t get your life back!

Remember, healthy , fit , young people are dying so of course people with serious health conditions are very much at risk!

Boris Johnson wouldn’t put himself at risk and he’s healthy, so why should you!

Hi,I believe you meant to have tagged me /replied to not HappyJo aha.Not sure if my GP even have an email if so I'll try and I don't have a specific Dr despite what other people think haha like Dentists, Hospitals,Cardiologists. How I wish I could tbh our company is already going shortly anyway and is true they didn't treat me well when I came back from a Heart op.

I know it really is a scary predicament we in.Ah but it's one rule for one and another for other people ain't it.I haven't even received the NHS letter so must not think I'm extremely high risk but I am high risk and believe I should be and wanna be off more than these 14days.I guess I take from when is 14days and also I'm going to be in contact with my Cardiologist soon will voice concerns then.

Can't see it when click link, yep exactly no mention as a rule only in connection with if you're pregnant which I totally get of course but as like others would of thought Heart disease as a whole would be considered I believe it totally gets downplayed even though it's a num 1 killer.Seems to be case yeah and not sure what ETA means haha but yh can't see anything on the link

I think everyone with an underlying condition should isolate regardless to getting a letter or not because our bodies are not that strong and to be on the safe side if possible the ones who can stay at home should for their own health

I am I have been since 19th but work has gave me 14days just like everyone else.I'm worried on going back I can't have 12wks as not received letter. It's confusing and frankly upsetting cause it's like we are grouped with the healthy people (or people to them not likely to get in a bad way with it) when really we should be included on NHS letter as we are high risk which is bad enough. Also on media reports and on BHF site underlines the risk we're at in my opinion I think Govt needs to speak to more Drs etc and reassess (update) who they include on the list.I'm going to be speaking to my cardiologist and voice my concerns.

I do very much agree with you with these uncertain times about your health and we are at risk anyone who has had heart attack or heart failure or any health condition should be included as the nhs are already working overtime and no need for people who have a health condition putting more strain on their health the virus will put more strain on us wishing you the best
