Single large Palpitations in evenings at rest.

36 yo,Within the last year, my health has plummeted. A year ago I had one single large heart beats in the evenings. went to hospital, ecg etc and found nothing. Oct 19 stated to have what they told me was an atrial flutter. 4 months on they've done an ablation, to cure the flutter, but everyday now i still have one large beat, 90% time at rest and after some food occurs 10-11pm.I get a tightening of the chest and fear of doom each time. When i was a child they told me i was hypoglycemic.

Hello and welcome to the forum! Firstly if you have AF there are various triggers including caffeine, chocolate, alcohol and spicy foods. If you haven't done so you could try eliminating these from your diet. A friend with AF is off medication since giving these up.

You mention hyperglycaemia. This occurs in insulin dependent diabetics who have taken too much insulin, eaten to little or exercised too much. It can be a tricky balance at times.. Symptoms can include racing/pounding heart, sweating and blurred vision. You mention you were told you were hypoglycemic as a child. There is a rare medical condion called hypoglycaemia. This causes overproduction of insulin. Treatment is similar to regular diabetes, i. e. limiting carbohydrates.

Maybe you try limiting carbs to around 120gm per day (Mediterranean diet if possible) and avoiding the triggers I mentioned. If you try this it would be good to know how you get on.

I have assumed you do not smoke. Smoking, and vaping, can trigger AF.
