Micro Vascular Angina 😩

Feels like getting worse, MVA chest pain and tightness most of the time these last weeks. Feels like an elephant on my chest. I find I am coughing more than usual when I get the pains in chest, very breathless as well. Seeing doctor when I can get an appointment hopefully one day this week. Feel tired all the time and very little energy. 😩😩

You need Milkfairy

Hello Barb959

I know the feeling all too well.

I am struggling at the moment too.

It's pants I agree😱

I hibernate this time of year because the cold is a big trigger along with emotional and mental stress for me.

At the moment I rest every afternoon and have a window between 10am and 2pm everyday when I can just about function as normal human being.

You may need you medication adjusting

Have you got access to a Cardiologist who has an understanding of MVA and vasospastic angina?

If you feel you are getting worse and your pain changes in pattern in anyway longer, more frequent and severe with increasing breathlessness then it's time to go to hospital to be checked out.

I hope you feel more at ease soon.

Exactly the same as a me now.

My dog /carer takes position at the bottom of the sofa when he sees the signs every day now. Great for keeping my feet warm, not so good for circulation as he ways 5 stone!

Hi Barb959,

know its not the answer but finding out someone has similar symptoms with MVD is reassuring to some degree. I'm getting the same symptoms as you. Chest pain/aching /elephant feeling/uncomfort and it is dragging me down, sometimes I find it alarming and scary. Using a hot water bottle at night to help relieve the symptoms, along with some hart meds. I'm also breathless and coughing on occasions. Hope your doc can help you with meds. if the symptoms get worse then call 111 or 999 if you have a cold sweat, dizzy spell and feel nauseous.

Thank you, will try the hot water bottle 😀

It is good to talk on here there is always someone listening,

Thanks

I go to bed with 2 hot water bottles every night!

I also use oxygen at night and for severe episodes of angina which along with my TENS machine helps.

If it all gets too much I go into hospital for IV GTN and morphine.

Only problem last admission didn't go well as I wasn't in CCU.

The Trust has apologised and accepted they didn't care for me as well as they should.

I am now dealing with PTSD as a result 😰

Thanks Milkfairy,

Sorry to hear your last hospital experience was not good.

When I was in CCU i was looked after very well, but when I was in the medical ward it was ok nothing we can do go home.

I will do the water bottles though.

Hi Milkfairy,

Sorry your having a bad time too 😩

I don’t have a cardiologist as he discharged me to my GP as he is not interested in MVA.

My GP is understanding and I can at least discuss things with him without feeling like your talking to a brick wall. He sent me for X-rays, bloods and an ecg so I will be seeing him this week to discuss meds.

It just gets harder sometimes to function, it seems to be in the morning for me I just can’t seem to get going. Like you I feel ok later in the day. The winter is difficult.

Thank you for always being there, for everyone. I hope you feel the support and kindness we all get here too.

Hello Barb

I completely sympathise

I'm feeling bad at the moment constant heavy feeling and very breathless, been in bed all week with a cold as well, and coughing a lot.

Had a bout of bad chest pain which eased after taking the GTN spray.

It does get me down, feels like I'm always ill in bed but I've got a good book and the weather is bad so I'm making the best of it .

I hope you get to see your GP soon, if not and you feel worse then go to A and E.

I'm waiting for an echocardiogram and due to see my cardiologist in a month.

Take care

Okay all of us with MVA or/ and Vasospastic angina require a group hug!

Barb959 you really do need to be seen by an understanding Cardiologist.

MVA and VSA are beyond the scope of a GP it is complex heart condition.

I've sent you a PM

Hi there

Do you find your MVA gets worse in the heat as well as the cold?

Hope you’re ok? 😊

HectorsDad profile image

My MVA is certainly worse at the moment. Peaks are about the same, but the general background discomfort is quite a lot worse- and even less energy as a result. I’m assuming it’s the heat, but inevitably I wonder.

I’m doing ok at the moment 😀, I do find when bending down to do something cleaning etc I do get very breathless and chest pains and I have to rest a while.

Hope your doing good too 😊

That’s really odd you saying that as I’ve noticed the same, not the chest pain as noticeable but definitely breathless.

I’m going to attempt a longer walk when it cools down around 8-9ish I’ve been a bit on edge about walking to far as I’ve got breathless and chest ache after about 5 minutes, I need to be positive and enjoy the walk and put things behind me as the worry doesn’t help.

I know exercise is very important.

Day off today 😃
