Costochondritis: have many of you been diagnosed with this a year or two after CABG?

Just been given diagnosis of this - Costochondritis - after an ECG and review by good Doctor. I had some increase in general chest pain for 2-3 weeks, and various other aches and pains. My concern was the pain was a sign of circulation issues but have been reassured this is non Cardiac but just a consequence of the open heart surgery. Will be going on ibuprofen and omeprazole. Had been getting nervy that the pain was a sign of complications after CABG 22 months ago, so thought it worthwhile to post that it’s reassuring in a way that the pain is diagnosed as non circulation problems and more likely that the chest is still adjusting to the invasive nature of the operation. The pain from Costochronditis, so I’ve read from a few online searches, can be similar to heart specific issues so it’s best to get it checked out at the Doctors.

Hi I had a heart stent fitted early December, everything went well but kept having these pains across my chest. Went to A&E several times because of fear something was wrong all ecg & bloods etc were coming back as clear. Found out via an older doctor that it was very normal, it was Costochondritis, what a relief. Pains went almost immediately.! Always have it checked out but is nice to know it was nothing sinister.

Thanks for reply; I think I need to investigate further how ibuprofen works/interacts alongside all my other prescribed pills...statins, beta blocker, aspirin etc

I've had costochondritis for years and years but as part of fibromyalgia not heart. It is worrying when it flares up but a rheumatologist told me to just press on it. If it hurts physically with pressure it isn't heart.
