I still get 'flutters' with my ICD, do you?

Hi all, I had a combined PM/ICD fitted in August. I am very fit and the whole episode has knocked me for 6. The Bisoprolol controls the flutters/palpitations 99% of the time, but very occasionally I get the odd 3 - 5 second burst of these, and then I start to worry. My cardiologist says, 'get on with life', but that's easier said than done. I was wondering what the collective experience was on here please?

Thanks Yasyass. Indeed, I try to live a (new) normal life, but it's a bit of a confidence knocker,

Could it be the device pacing your heart that you can feel? I have heard of this before

Maybe Lezzers, but I don't think so. I'm off to the pacing clinic in a couple of weeks, I'll ask them.

My husband has an ICD (it doesn't pace him) and a few times in the middle of the night I've heard it vibrating or whirling, he's usually in a deep sleep so he isn't aware of it at all.

Oh, that must sound odd. Thanks for the info. Mine is usually, when I’m sitting quietly, and then I get a flutter which makes me cough and feel a bit odd (BP fluctuation?) and then I’m ok again. All of this lasts mere seconds

Are you a member of the icd- crtd support uk?

No Lezzers, I’ve never heard of them. I’ll look them up

They're a closed facebook group, name says it all. I'm fairly sure you'll find someone there who's experienced the same thing. facebook.com/groups/7879967...

Yes, I still do, even taking Toprol, Sotalol, and having an ICD/Pacemaker. My EP told me they couldn't stop the arrhythmias 100%, that there would definitely be breakthrough arrhythmias.

Now that I am aware of that, and the fact that with medicine and a device my arrhythmias are greatly reduced, and much less frequent than before, makes me a happy camper. I'll take these days anytime over the past and all the constant discomfort and worry.

This is not to say I don't get concerned occasionally when I have an arrhythmia, I think that's natural, but I'm way less worried.

And the only time my device ever made noise was the warning beep as the battery was depleting. If mine made any other sound, then I would definitely be concerned and promptly consult with my doctor! I've never heard of them making noise like that. 🤔

Thanks siouxbee19 that’s very reassuring. BTW, what’s a ‘breakthrough arrhythmia‘? I’ve never heard this expression before?

I need to relax more and get into ‘happy camper’ mode.

At my last pacing check, they did get my device to bleep, it was most strange.
