The very best thing you can do is to get yourself to see a cardiologist and ask those questions. Write them all down before you see him, and if you don't have someone with you, ask him to please include the answers in his follow-up letter. I sense this may take quite an effort on your part, but start with a GP appointment and get the ball rolling. I hope it goes well for you.

Hello and welcome to the forum. It would be useful if you could copy 'n' paste your question from your profile to your post.

Anyway a little background. You are seventy years old, had a stroke about eleven years ago and now have a number of narrowed coronary arteries but are considered unsuitable for bypass surgery. In addition you are overweight, have sleep apnea and Type II diabetes. There is no such thing as "mild" diabetes as the possible complications from all types are equally severe. In the near future there is to be a MDT (multi disciplinary team) to discuss your case.

First how overweight are you and how well controlled is your diabetes (HbA1c)? Both of these increase risk during surgery. In particular they like a good HbA1c as the more away from the ideal the greater the risk of infection. Also how is the sleep apnea treated?

I think at the moment you need to await the outcome of the MDT and take it from there. If you are unhappy with the decision remember you can always ask for a second opinion.

Please let us know the outcome and if we can be of further help.

Thank you Michael I think some of my issue is lack of G P support ,i never see the same one! I am aware the issues regarding my diabetis not being "mild" what i was trying to say is that the d b nurse recently told me that my level was such that she said if i carry on at this level she would stop the metformin! only one a day . I am 18 1/2 stone, i have been given a hypertension label which is not true ,taken at home they are consistently low/ average 140/ 70 .

A quick read gives the initial impression that your diabetes, weight and previous stroke make things a trifle risky with a cabg, as the heart generally doesn’t like being messed with, even if it is in rude health.

A positive start for both your diabetes and BMI would be to work at reducing your weight. Eat less, move more.

I echo Michael’s suggestion of a copy/paste as people can be lazy and not bother to read a profile.

Than you sillyfroggy i am doing exactly that having lost a stone and hopefully will cease to be a diabetic soon!as to the stroke that was 11 years ago with no further trouble .I realy need to know what the angiogram results mean and getting what i have without an explanation is somewhat confusing .You are all right i need to have the discussion after the M D T meeting ,where hopefully i will be given an interpretation of results and future?assuming i have one!!
