Acid reflux and worrying heart pain.

Woke this morning with worrying chest pains, thinking is was the acid reflux I get almost every other day, I went through my routine. Upper body exercise, chewing gum, trying to burp, but it just wouldn't go away and I started to worry.

Then I remembered what I did and ate last night, Spaghetti in a rich tomato sauce, with lots of garlic and a glass of red wine, bit of chocolate. I also watched a few Youtube videos on politics, all in all the wrong things to do, 4 bad foods for AF and a lot of stress.

I posted on this subject a few months ago, thinking regular acid reflux and heart pain following stenting went hand in hand, but judging by the response, it seems it doesn't. I recently mentioned this to my cardio and he switched me from Omeprazole to Pantaprozole, saying that what I was taking could lead to stomach bleeding. Well so far the acid reflux/chest pain has remained the same.

Anyone with similar problems?

After a breakfast of oats, oat milk and banana, all good for relief, I am feeling better.

Have you tried GTN spray when you get chest pain, because if it works then there’s your answer.

No, I was given tablets which do the same thing, but they are to be used only in an emergency, I was given only 5 and have taken any yet. Indeed after use you are supposed to see a cardiologist.

This is clearly an acid reflux problem, confirmed my my cardio.

Try eating a apple in the evening GP told me it helps if it is Acid Reflux

I do almost every day, I love apples, I am pretty sure it was the tomatoes and wine (rather acidic) that did it and contrary to what I said earlier it is taking a while to fix. Just having a second cup of ginger tea. Stomach rumbling like a good'un.

The roller-coaster is up and running again!

Oh right there’s your answer also then 🙂

I would think everything you are was acidic, maybe some kind of milk would help as it can line the stomach. I used to chew gum and had awful acid from it. I think because the acid increases in your gut expecting food and then it gets nothing. Just a thought

Oh yes, the stomach is full of strong hyrochloric acid used in digestion, so anything you do isn't going to help there, all you can do is work on the esophagus lining. Chewing gum works because the saliva it generates is slightly alkaline, but you have to avoid spearment or peppermint. They do recomend cinnamond flavoured gum, but I haven't seen that.

I have to say I am hungry a lot and certainly need the calories, but starting to get bored with food. That said I am eating enough to maintain my new slimmer frame and weight.

Actually I am bored a lot, unable to do things I used to and that doesn't help any of this. Complicated isn't it?

Come on buck up lad!!!
