Was referred to have one after an ecg showed irregular heart beat and pulse. All this coming about as I need an operation to remove cancer in its early stages.

The test took place and I have no idea of the result but at the end the technician ran the transponder up the side of the throat. Is this normal?

Hello and welcome to the forum! This is entirely normal. It is to check the state of your cartoid arteries. Any serious narrowing of these would normally be prioritised over other surgery.

Thank you ..will leave the experts to decipher things. The calcium blockers they gave me at the start made my legs swell but the water pills seem ok.

Many thanks to you all.

Are you taking the diuretic with the calcium channel blocker?

No..they took me off the calcium blocker ..it caused my veins to enlarge and for veins to come up where I had never had any problems. They went on fire. They switched me to a diuretic pill. Things are calming down.

The reason I asked was one calcium channel blocker gave me odema and then I was prescribed a diuretic. Not ideal. I no longer take either - an ACE inhibitor works far better. Getting the right medication combination can be challenging to say the least!
