Feeling after an angina attack

Hi all, new here but could do with some help.... I’ve just been diagnosed with angina, after having some chest pain. Still waiting to see the cardiologist. I was just wondering how people feel after an attack, as I still feel shocking after 3 days not sure if this is normal or do I need to see my doctor again... Thanks for any advice

Who diagnosed your angina and when it was diagnosed did the clinician prescribe a beta blocker? My GP told me the diagnosis and prescribed Bisoprolol 1.25mg almost in the same breath. She also referred me to the Rapid Access Chest Pain as 'urgent' (she suspects heart failure), and gave me instruction regarding when to come back to her and when to call for an ambulance or get to the nearest A&E - were you given any guidance?

It was Friday I was diagnosed after having ecg, X-ray and blood at the hospital ... was given Bisoprolol 2.5mg, clopidogrel 75mg and a GYN spray.... told to just wait for my cardiology appointment... and if it gets bad after GTN spray call 999... I’m just not sure how long I would be feeling crap for afterwards... it been 3 days now and still feel shocking.. is this normal??

Sounds exactly what my GP said and rather difficult to follow when it's all new and you've not seen the cardiologist yet. I find myself questioning every twinge, worrying I'll not recognise a serious symptom and thereby cause more damage or even miss I'm having a heart attack. I've had resting and exercise ecg, an echocardiogram, and I see the cardiologist on 18 June - and I'm trying to stay patient and calm and frankly, it's not easy. I'm a mum and gran used to worrying about everyone else, worrying about me is horrid!

Re the shocking - do you mean you're still having trouble 'wrapping your head around' hearing you have a heart problem? Again, I can relate. I was diagnosed with rheumatic heart (RH) over 50 years ago after having the fever but while I knew I had it and paid attention if feeling unwell, the RH never really slowed me down - so hitting my 60s and suddenly finding myself told I have angina and possibly more, well, it's knocked me for six, really.

The beta blocker (Bispoprolol) does make me useless after 10pm (I used to be a genuine night owl!) but is doing such a great job I've only needed the GTN spray once - thank-heavens as the spray left me dizzy and feeling as though I was about to be sick for hours after. I rang the surgery to check that was normal (hat tip to Lezzers excellent advice here on the forum!) and the nurse I spoke to reminded me I should use the spray sitting down 'just in case'.

Dolphin14 has given you good advice -ring the surgery to be sure you're not missing something important. I hesitated and I wish I hadn't as it was reassuring to be reminded of what was to be expected, and what was something to be more worried about.

I haven’t had to use the spray as yet... I’m just so tired and sleeping all the time... and I keep getting g dizzy spell and nearly fainted today.

I wonder how your blood pressure is. Do you have a cuff to check it?

You should call your md. Mayb the beta blocker is causing symptoms.

Just checked it’s 125/75 which is the best it’s ever been ... it was 194/124 on Friday...
