Tablet Dilemma - Isosorbide Mononitrate

I recently had a right coronary artery stent replaced due to blockage in the original. The ‘short of breath’ symptoms didn’t improve and a subsequent visit to GP revealed that aortic stenosis was noted on my last scan.

Following the stent procedure my surgeon stopped me taking Isosorbide Mononitrate 10mg tablets twice a day. My GP restarted these tablets and has now increased the dose to 20mg twice a day. My breathing has improved but the patient notes with tablets say not to take if you have been diagnosed with Aortic Stenosis.

Can anyone advise?

Thank you

Hello and welcome to the forum! This was the blanket advice some years ago but it is no longer so. My isosorbide mononitrate was stopped post bypass as the aim was to stop the disabling angina as are many stent procedures. Your GP restarted it to treat what is really a different condition. All our heart issues are different as are our responses to the range of medications.
