Myoview stress test.

Went with hubby Colin for his Myoview stress test. Just thought I would let everyone know what happens in case some of you are worried as to what it’s like.

Colin was really worried when they mentioned radioactive stuff. He had to come off his bisoprolol 24 hours before and not drink tea or coffee after 9pm the night before the test, but he could have juice to drink and a light breakfast.

He went in and had an ecg. Then blood pressure. Then he had a canular put in and was pumped with drugs to make his heart go really fast to put it under stress. He said he got a bad headache and was told to tap his feet on the floor to help take away the effects after they injected the radioactive stuff in . They kept taking his blood pressure. He then had to wait an hour, then he went into the ct room. Went on the bench and there was a big plate that scanned round his body particularly the heart area, said it kept moving round him. Then he went through the ct tunnel for about a minute.

That was it, we had to wait for them to check everything in case it had to be re-done but luckily that was not the case. He was told to drink loads of fluids and not to go near children or pregnant ladies for 24 hours. We have come up to the east coast for a rest while we await the results.

Fully expected Colin to glow in the dark when we retired that evening lol.

Hope this helps anyone who is due to have one.

Love Ursula x

No they never told him that. They said if he wanted to go for something to eat he could but didn’t say it was necessary. Nasty thing that indigestion!!!! All started off with what Colin thought was indigestion, took gavisvon three times over three days...

Only to be told he had had three heart attacks.!!!!

Yeah same here , I was lucky I had a gp who knew what it was and I had a triple bypass in Feb ( waited a year ).

Apparently heartburn and heart attack are so similar medical works still struggle to differentiate .

I know when I had heartburn at night and it burned right upto my jaw it felt like heart attack .

Feeling great ,didn't start in earnest until week 8-9 , it's all subjective but I don't think your healed enough in the early weeks even for a deep breath :) . Well I wasn't anyway .

Glad you are now on the mend..... Colin just waiting for his results to see if he needs another stent. He’s been through a lot bless him, was a shock when he had ct for his heart and they found kidney cancer by chance. Now the kidney has been taken out along with the cancer......... the fight is on now to get well. x

All the best , I just glad I lived to the fullest whilst waiting and kept myself fit by walking and cycling in the forest , I think the key to it all is exercise in a manner that's really enjoyable on a regular basis .

Hi Ursula pretty good description of a perfusion scan only comment is. I don't think your Heart actually speeds up, it's just put under pressure to mimic that it's working very hard !! I am sure someone will correct me if that's wrong. I was told go to the Café and have a Meat Pie in between the scans (which I did enjoy ) not often told to go and have Pie LOL

You forgot the best bit, they advise going to the canteen and ordering fried bread and hash browns as the fat expels the isotopes.... yummy.

You need to make sure you wee in places that others won't become radioactive, so be careful with toilet seats etc...

This is a two part test if needed, stress and rest, I enjoyed both so double fried bread...yummy yummy!
