5 weeks post aortic valve replacement, doing really well, just one little niggle!

One of my stitches at the bottom of the wound hasn’t retracted under the skin and it is really sore. I think it needs slicing off but I’m not the expert. I’m worried it might cause an infection but I can’t get a nurse appointment at the GPs until next Thursday. I’m not sure whether to leave it to sort itself out or whether I should contact the hospital ward to see if they could look at it?

Definitely contact the hospital ward. Especially as you can’t get in to see your GP. You don’t really want an infection now after doing so well. Good luck 👍

Panic over. It’s dropped off in the shower. I’ll just keep an eye on the scar but I think it’ll be fine. Diagnosis - coped. Wait for surgery - coped. Surgery and first 5 weeks after - coped. One little hiccup and it felt like there was a mountain to climb. Seems really silly especially when there are so many really poorly people. I think it was the months of coping and smiling coming out!
