Not sure what to expect

Hi, I'm awaiting results of the Nucleur rest/stress tests, I was told I'd had a minor heart attack some time in last couple of months, after going to hospital with chest and back pain.

I am on Bisoprolol and aspirin, I feel ok just tired going up and down stairs.

I am terrified of them telling me I need a procedure, the thought of it makes me very anxious, I am really hoping they say everything's fine.

It's quite reassuring reading all these posts, how positive people are after undergoing serious procedures.

The problem is not knowing and your imagination works overtime. Try not to let it. I had a heart attack - 100% blocked artery - and a stent and honestly it was pretty painless. The worst bit was the embarrassment about the ancient giant T shirt I was wearing; I'd gone to bed and had been throwing up before the ambulance men arrived and had put on something "that didn't matter...." My mother always used to say "wear respectable underwear..." shame she hadn;t included pyjamas in her advice! Hope it is all fine. Good luck.

First of all, stop worrying. It never solved anything. Look at it this way: it has been caught before it became too serious. There is loads of information on the BHF website, including downloadable leaflets, etc. Get some of these and read them. Avoid Google, except for reputable websites like the NHS, BHF and similar. We are here to help you both through it.

Hi there, I don’t know how long you’ve been taking bisoprolol but I had really mild discomfort and ended up with angio and stent. I was given bisoprolol and it made me tired and dizzy. I thought it was my heart condition doing all this to me and it turned out it was bisoprolol.

I am a big worrier too So don’t worry, you are in safe hands and its much better to know whats happening to your body then assuming its all ok. Best of luck and keep it positive. If anything this heart attack has taught me to stop over thinking (where I can) 😁

My husband had the same test after feeling "slightly breathless" a couple of times, he was referred for stent but damage too great (that procedure was quick and painless) so ended up with triple bypass. He went to work the day before admission and played badminton that evening !! Three months later he is just completing cardiac rehab and, apart from lifting, he is doing pretty much everything he was before - as he was 69 he took retirement. We both agreed after loads of stress and numerous tests that it was good that it had been found as he was probably in danger of dropping dead without warning. He found the hospital stay fine and was walking a lot before even leaving, he took no painkillers since leaving the hospital - I realise amongst these posts that his recovery etc. is much quicker than other people but try and be positive that they are doing their best to make you well.

I was a ghost through it all - 2 months after the procedure I’m feeling a lot more like my old self. My mind is clear enough that I forget to take my pills.....heading home now to pop a couple. If I can manage (massive overthinker / worrier), anyone can.
