Bugger😣😣 I've just realised I've missed my ticagrelor blood thinner..

Usually 7am and 7pm...missed my 7am one this morning and only just realised.

I know I'm stupid.

I even have an alarm to remember but was so so busy on stage..can't believe my stupidity. .trouble now is that I can't take the one that's due nowith (tonight ) as I'm told it could be dangerous a double dose.

So I've just taken the one I WAS meant to take this morning. .means in theory I've gone 24hrs before I just took one.

Am I in trouble??

You should be fine but don't do it again! Have you thought of a pill box - some people find these good for remembering to take their meds.

You should be okay with one missed dose, but my anticoagulation nurse said that if I miss another dose fairly soon after the first one to do a blood test (I home test) and ring them if my INR changes.

I have a shed load of drugs to take so I use pill boxes. I take my warfarin at 6.30 pm so I have a reminder set on my phone and iPad for it, the other pills aren’t so time sensitive.

I have read that ticagrelor has a long life in your system so you should be alright you will still have had a residue of protection even from the dose you took the previous day.

Relax above all stressing won’t help. It’s fine I’ve been told categorically that it stays in your system for a day or so. Otherwise how would people cope travelling multiple time zones. They always say take it as soon as you realise. Take care

No just take 7pm dose as normal, Then continue as usual. Dispose of 7am tablet to avoid confusion.

Missing one dose shouldn't harm.I also had an NSTEMI and I had real problems wih TIcag and my GP refused to change it. I couldn't cope any more so I stopped taking one of the two daily doses and just took one at night for a week until I saw the consultant for my second angiogram. My consultant wasn't best pleased because I needed it for the angio but he said I was ok and on t he day he changed me onto clopidogrel.

I don't even take my meds at the same time every day, maybe I should? I'm on clopidogrel, aspirin, bisoprolol and atorvastatin. I take first three in the morning when I get up and statin just before bed time. Those times vary. It could be as early as 7AM or as late as 10AM, depending on when I get up. I should probably try to sync it a little better.

I've been told that missing the odd pill (any of them) won't kill you. Either take it as soon as you can, or if it's nearer to taking the next one, leave the missed one out.

Just don't do it on a regular basis!!

I don't take mine at a definite time - generally sometime between 10 & 11 am & pm, although this morning's were nearer midday.

Don't worry Imcoukdnt remember if I'd taken my blood thinners and felt I had to get advice rang my Drs spoke to triage nurse who had a word with the dr and he said it's only once it's still in your body to take it next time it's due. I was also told this by senior cardiologist nurse when I missed a tablet and she told me again at cardio it's ok if you miss once it's still in your body.

I've missed a handful of my Apixaban since I started on them last April with no side effects. But if you're ever booked in for a DC Cardioversion to shock your heart back into sinus rhythm it's important you don't miss a single one in the month preceding the procedure or they have to postpone it. I had mine 5 days ago and it's worked after just one shock. Just hope it now stays that way.
