1year anniversary

So one year ago today I was rushed into RCHT Truro having a heart attack, one angioplasty later was released Christmas eve with was seemed like half of Boots pharmacy.

One year later I land back from 18 Days at theme parks in Orlando, walking average 11 miles a day plus having lost almost two stone since the HA

If someone had told me I would even walk 5 miles in a day and take long flights I would have laughed.

Don't get me wrong I have numerous days when I'm so far down you'd need to dig 1/2 mile down just to find me, BUT there is a life after HA. It's a different life but still a great one.

So my Christmas thanks to those at RCHT as well as my Cardio Rehab team. I literally owe them my life.

Happy festive season to you all.

Congratulations! A friend's mother is about 40 years post HA although she recently had another (doing g OK now) and a colleague's father is a similar period post bypass. Both are in their nineties and still independent so definitely life after heart issues!

Well done and great to hear. Hope you keep finding more things to do. And get stinger everyday.

Mine was 2.5 years ago now, As u say still low days & sometimes don’t know where they come from but generally living life.

I’m back commuting on my bike (13 miles each way) I used to do it 4 day per week but at least once is something, back to mountain biking, walking, skiing , gym etc! All a lot steadier but there. Oh and something new I started adult swim lessons though they are tough!

Thank-you for such a positive post. I'm only 9 weeks post H.A so to read that things can return to near-normal is cheering. I laughed at your description of meds. being half of Boots pharmacy. I've gone from 0 to 9 tabs so that's exactly what it feels like!

Happy Christmas.

Good to hear that Threadbeare,, my HA was a day or so before yours and had a stent fitted a few weeks afterwards. Taking the meds are a bit of a drag but I have not had any nasty after effects and just happy they are keeping me healthy. I am also back to near normal now with cycling and swimming each week and plenty of walking. Also been on 2 foreign holidays and planning the next one. Yes there is life after a HA.

Thank you all for your kind comments

Have a great festive season, whatever you are doing and I wish you all well
