I went to see cardiac 'specialist' yesterday and was told off for asking pharmacist if I should take flecinide acetate with a beta blocker, the pharmacists opinion was not a good idea! the 'specialist' told me she was totally incorrect and said I should get my advice from a cardiac specialist not a pharmacist!! at which point I told him I did not have one of those on tap!!!

I also asked about aneamia and the effects on AF and was told it was nonsense, but I suffer from mal absorption syndrome and I am usually aneamic. I have read it can really affect AF??? Anybody got any thoughts???

I was also told to stop taking asprin.

Help meeee!!!

I love that you put the cardiologist in his place! My wife is a Pharmacy Technician and she says that if a Pharmacist told you there is an interaction between flecinide and your beta blocker then she is probably correct, where the cardiologist is weighing up the pros and cons.

Thank you, you and your wife have reassured me, we are constantly told to ask the pharmacist and then when we do we get told they dont know what they are talking about!! It was tempting to say that pharmacists spend the same amount of time purely studying drugs!! Still at least I didn't take it without answering back, fed up with being patronized by so called specialists!!

I would want just one person responsible for providing my care plan. Discuss it between themselves by all means then arrive at a conclusion they both agree with and that you fully understand.

I'm no expert but have previously heard that anaemia can cause palpitations etc. I have also been having such problems and am having bloods to test for anaemia as a possible cause, so it seems there is a link somewhere.
