Nite Time Ramipril

Notice that several posts here, where patients have suggested taking Ramipril before bed. Are there benefits for taking it before bedtime?

Ramipril is know for its side effects with people and I’m having blocked up ears issues and breathlessness.

Thanks

I have always taken Ramipril around 7pm - I just carried on from what was done when I was in hospital. I’ve never noted any issues with it and never sought to change the time I take it.

Thanks. I’m going to give it a go today see how it goes.

My cardiologist changed the time I took Ramipril from morning to night because I had been feeling so tired and have found I have felt better generally. He says everyone is different and it is trial and error to find which regime is best. Good luck!

Thanks for that.

I think the idea is to protect you during the early morning when the risk of heart problems is at its highest. On the other hand if you leap out of bed in the early morning there is a risk of a fall because of low blood pressure.

I’m a bit sluggish getting out of bed as a rule, as I live on my own no family etc... I just get up at own pace anyway. I’m going to have my Ramipril tonite for the first time to see how it goes it’s only 2.5mg anyway. No harm in trying it out at night.

Post your findings on taking Ramipril at night-time I'm on my own overnight and would be interested in how it goes for you!

I've just been put on Ramapril and the pharmacist said to take it at night as it can make you feel dizzy when you start.

Thanks for that. I Must ask my Pharmacist when I next see him about times to take all the heart related meds. I get 18 repeat items per month, type 1 diabetes, it’s minefield to remember everything.

I take 10 mg before going to bed and have had no problems with that.
