SHINGLES

I have posted this to advise that CABg patients can ask for a shingles injection, like the flu jab. At this time only available to those over 70, however Dr's will take cabg as high risk.

I was diagnosed with Shingles last night after an emergency appointment. Symptoms started with a feeling of having been burned - on my back just below my left shoulder blade. The feeling got worse as did the pain, however the doc said it looked like it had only just erupted. Prescribed Aciclovir, five times a day for a week and painkillers to help deal with it - one thing is clear, pain is no where near that of recovering from cabg. (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft) Only concern is the possibility the spots may travel 180 degrees round my chest, right over left nipple and the scar from the operation - now that will hurt! Onward and upwards.

Thanks for the info. I will ask about that next time I go to see my doctor.
