I’ve had Hocum for 30 years and my new cardiologist recommends installing an internal cardiac defibrillator. Interested in hearing others experiences with an ICD. I’m active and regularly walk 10km/day and ocean swim 2-5km. I’m 59 yo.

Hi I have dilated cardiomyopathy and got an icd fitted last December, I have a home monitor, the only problem I had afterward was a very painful frozen shoulder, the docs said I either moved my arm too much or too little! Physio and cortisol injections sorted it out,I could drive again after a few weeks but it is dvla notifiable, it does make me feel more secure doing day to day things it's like your own little insurance policy, I am glad I have it and now I hardly notice its there, mine does stick out because I am thin but its a small price to pay for the security I feel it brings, and I wear my scar with pride! It wouldn't stop me wearing any style of clothes or beachwear,I was also 59 when I got it, if there is anything else you want to ask just message me, tc char x
