A big thank you to the NHS

Had my 5x bypass April 2018 at the heath hospital Cardiff.The staff from the tea ladies,cleaners,nursing staff,doctors and especially the icu and hdu staff a big thank you for saving my life I,m getting stronger every day.To all of you who are post op there are no bad days.Only good days and not so good days

Great to hear about the super NHS staff in Cardiff. I can tell you that their colleagues in St.Thomas' Hospital London are every bit as special.

My 3 x CABG was done in June this year. Thinking back to my time on the ward, I remember being amazed by the care shown to me by every staff member. We have a lot of reasons to be proud of our NHS.

Glad to hear that you had such a great experience and are getting better. I have not been treated at the Heath but my wife has some years ago and said how brilliant they were. Unfortunately with the devolved NHS in Wales we live out of the area so now would not be referred there unless the treatment required was not available further West. Just hope that their "best practice" filters down here.

Hi I had a triple bypass in April at Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital which is excellent. When I was in there were a lot also in from Wales, I believe it is where anyone from North Wales, I don’t know about South Wales, as there is an agreement as there is with the Isle of Man Health Authority. Yes the thing with North Waes is that due to geography and infrastructure many treatments and operations are not available any where near where the people live. the rule in the devolved NHS is if the treatment/operation is not available in your health area then you can go somewhere else otherwise you have to stay within your helath area. I had to travel one and a half hours within my health area for a scan even though it was available at a hospital quarter of an hour away which was in another health area! Mad!

Great to know you are doing so well. I too had fantastic treatment from the NHS in Swindon and Oxford, I owe them everything xxx
