update on CCB and Ivabradine

Hi All,

just an update,went to my GP yesterday,although cardiologist at hospital recommended either CCBs or Ivabradine,she was unhappy to prescrible as my blood pressure is so very low, so,metimes 85/60,so now I just have to carry on as I was and "see how I go" apparently the cardio surgeon has looked at my last angiogram, 2 years ago and decided to do nothing for the time being....I feel unhappy with this result,I thought maybe another angiogram as my angina is getting worse,so, all Im taking for this old heart of mine is Asprin and my gt spray..

Strange - my cardio team give ECGs a lifespan of 6 months and angiograms 12.

Im feeling quite vunerable at the moment,I think I would have felt better if the cardiologist had called me in and discussed it,but no just a letter to my GP, I know Im not as bad as a lot of people,but to have angina and heart problems are very frightening as you yourself know,I woke this morning with pains in my chest which subsided after 1 gt spray,but I am a little concerned to be truthful

My angina deteriorated over a year and went from Stage II to III/IV. In my view a 5% deterioration is insignificant if blockage is under 50% but very significant if say 80% blocked.

Personally I think your GP should request another angiogram because things do change even if you are on heart "dolly mixtures"!

If your symptoms are changing or getting worse and you are increasingly reliant on your GTN spray, it's important that your cardiologist is aware as they may change their mind about a repeat angiogram, or could possibly do alternative tests to try and assess your heart.

If you are unhappy with the decision to 'wait and see', it may be worth giving us a call on 0300 330 3311 to talk to a cardiac nurse-so we can go over your history and we can provide you with information and support.

Hi, has the cardiologist given you any idea of diagnosis? and if your GP is ignoring the consultant why bother going to see the consultant?

Hi, I'm on ivabradine, the research says the heart rate shouldn't go below 70. Wishing you all the best.
