Awful news

My friend gave birth nearly 10yrs ago and her heart gave up during labour and she had an emergency c-sec then later went on to have a pacemaker.

She hasn’t had the best quality of life the last nearly 10yrs, anxiety and severe tiredness amongst her heart not playing ball.

A few weeks back she got af, then a week later was took into hospital as her heart rate couldn’t be stabilised. After lots of new meds she came out.

I seen her Friday and she looked great, early hours of Saturday morning she woke gasping for breath and her heart stopped and her partner had to give her cpr. She has been in an induced coma and on life support since.

Yesterday they took away the sedation and have tried to take her off life support but unfortunately it hasn’t worked.

I have learnt tonight that her brain is severely damaged and her life support will be switched off tomorrow.

I cannot comprehend this, we have been good friends for years and we both have 9yr old girls.

I am visiting her in the morning, i cannot get my head round this at all.

I too have cardiomyopathy btw, but I am relatively well in comparison to how she has been.

Hold your nearest close, sorry for this extremely sad post. Im just lying here devastated and needed to share xxxx

So sorry to hear such news. Thinkingof you

It’s been a long day and still no change, her partner cannot let go and won’t agree to the life support being switched off.

This is awful.

I am so so sorry to read this. Nothing I can say will ease this for you, but please know I am thinking of you xxx

Am so sorry that you are going through this. Her partner is obviously not ready to make the biggest decision of their life. Do they have other family or your friends family for support. When I had to make the decision for my son I found talking to my family was helpful plus the hospital brought in a couple who had been through exactly what I did and they were amazing thoughts and love to you all x

Thankyou, he along with her mom made the decision this morning and in true fighting style she is still going xxx

My friend gave up her fight at 1.30sm this morning. She has been so strong this last 10years.

Don’t put off today what you may not be able to do tomorrow.

Thankyou all for your support, it has meant a lot x

Sorry to hear your sad news. My thoughts are with you and your friend, and her family and friends. I lost one of my best friends (we had known each other for forty years) very, very suddenly and unexpectedly five years ago and know what you are going through.

Thankyou Michael, I am in denial today I think, I feel numb x
