Is there anyone on here that has congenital heart condition dextrocardia with a fontan circulation and who has had a pacemaker fitted? I am due to undergo this procedure tomorrow but would be keen to speak to anyone who has already been through it.
I’m 31 and live in Bristol.
Thanks all,
Peter.

My granddaughter does not have dextrocardia but she does have a Fontan completed when she was thirteen. She is now 23. Is on Warfarin but compared to how she was prior to Fontan she is able to live a near normal life. You will find that very few people understand the Fontan circulation, including very few in the medical profession apart from those involved in cardiac surgery and cardiac medicine.
There is no help or concessions for anyone who has had this procedure.
Having said all that, she recovered well from the surgery as she did from the seven previous operations prior to the Fontan completion.
Look forward, the cyanosis and oxygen saturation levels improve.
At 72 I have recently had valve replacement, open heart, and am in awe of how children and young people cope during and after the surgery.
I do indeed believe. Being ordained kind of has that effect lol. Thank you for your response, and prayers. It is a very complicated business. My thoughts and prayers are also with you and our family especially your granddaughter.
