Both are beta blockers that are also used to treat other conditions. Is your only issue BP, or have you had a HA or suffer from A Fib? Has your GP said why? He must have his reasons..

I had a look through the BHF website and Bisoprolol is now the beta blocker of choice. Talk to your GP about the "Why" and how to switch. It may be as simple as waking up one morning and taking Bisoprolol instead. Keep us updated.

HI,im worried as to if its safe to just stop the propananol and take the other tablet immediately my doc says it is but there are so many medical errors in this world it scares me

Propanolol has a half-life of about 3-4 hours and a normal dose is effective for about 12 hours. You should be fine taking bisoprolol the day after you have finished propanolol. You could try talking to your pharmacist (I rather suspect your GP who has prescribed the change will say its fine).
