Hi,

Thanks for the add - I'm 66 and following a CT scan and then an Angiogram, I have had a stent in my LAD. Doing all the right things and taking the meds, hopefully I'll soon be fully recovered. Feeling a lot better already.

Rob

Joined the Stented LAD club in 2015 following an investigatory Angiography - no heart attack, thankfully. What symptoms prompted the CT scan and Angioplasty? My second recent Angiogram showed no worsening of the CAD. Was that down to to diet, exercise and medication? I don't know and it was difficult to say whether or not I felt any better. Suffice it to say I probably got my retaliation in first and lowered my risk of an 'event' substantially. And for that , I am enormously grateful. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

One bout of chest pain which radiated up to my jaw, I put down to indigestion! Fortunately my GP thought otherwise. I thought my lack of breath during exercise was down to poor fitness and age - I realise now, it wasn't!

Good call by your GP - similar to me insofar as your actions probably help you avoid a heart attack further on down the line as the CAD progressed. Enjoy your rejuvenated cardio-vascular system!

I’m in the stented LAD club too! Mine was in September.

I have changed to a plant based diet and lost 2 stone

I feel better than ever now and my cholesterol is down to 3.1 (LDL 0.77 - which is excellent)

Best of luck Rob!

Hi Rob wishing you a speedy recovery . Can I ask how blocked was your Lad . Mine has an 80% I only had the angina twice 1/ a tightness in my neck 2/ mid chest ache but I'm being treated by Medication . I think if I start having more symptoms they will stent. Was having your stent fitted much different than the angiogram . Sorry for all the questions

Not sure on the percentage but they did a drug induced blood flow test before and after and the rate of blood flow doubled after the stent.

The two procedures are virtually the same but the "wire" had to travel further to reach the blocked area and insert the stent. It took longer but it included the blood flow tests. I felt fine straight away but had some niggling pains for about a fortnight - which I put down to internal bruising - but I am ok now.

It’s good to know we’re not on our own isn’t it, my LAD was 100% blocked (chronic total occlusion) but luckily the heart was being partly fed from somewhere else, i feel much better but struggle getting motivated to exercise more and loose weight, good luck Rob.

Hi I know what you mean I am trying to lose weight need to drop two stone . Which I'm sure will help with exercise and walking. I have been told bad posture after a back problem is the cause of my stomach muscles aching when I walk. This isn't easy is it. I don't fry anything eat lots of fruit and veg but need to cut sweet things down to maybe s treat once or twice a week . Have you managed to lose any weight so far . X
