Feeling very frustrated after having Pericarditis 7 times (Oct 2014, Dec 2014, Feb 2015, Aug 2015, Dec 2015, Jan 2018, Feb 2018)

Recommended taking Colchicine for long term use to stop the recurring Pericarditis.

I'm a middle distance athlete 800m/1550m training hard for the 1500m World Masters Championship in Spain, where I know I can win a medal for GB.

I'm just getting depressed with all the stop start of training now due to Pericarditis.

All my bloods & heart tests etc are all very healthy after various tests.

Just keen to find out why it keeps happening?

Sorry, but I am afraid without just reading up on pericarditis, I didn't really know what it was.

Reading the information on it though, as I guess you have already done yourself. It looks like in some cases it can be a recurring issue.

So with your training I can amagine that yes it really would be very frustrating.

I am sure you will get there though and bring that medal home with you. As you sound like a very strong deturmaned indervigual.

Sorry I have no exspireance or advice to help you understand more about your condition & how to rid yourself of this frustrating health problem.

But I would like to send you my very best wishes of hoping you can very soon, combat it once and for all.

Maybe you could book a double appointment with your Gp or practice nurse. So that they can talk and explain things more in depth.

Best of luck to you, I send you comfort hugs my friend, Jo😊

Hi I too have recurring Pericarditis am in the middle of a flare up at the moment. Its very debilitating as you say everything has to stop just walking upstairs can be challenging. I have asked various people gps etc why this happens noone can give me a reason why only that mine will reoccur each time I get a particular strain of cold/flu. Is yours caused by a viral infection too? I hope you feel well soon & are back training. Keep positive!

Unsure if it's caused by a viral infection.

Undergoing a stress heart test at the moment.

Just frustrating why it happens.

Hope you are keeping well

Andy I have had Pericarditis and taken Colchicine, it worked for me but be aware that it can upset your stomach. I took Lansoprazole to combat tummy problems. look on Facebook for pericarditis groups I am, a member of two closed groups that have been a help.
