My father is currently in hospital as the heart valve he had replaced 13 years ago is now failing. He has been told by St Thomas’ hospital in London that he is too high risk for another open heart surgery. He is being considered for a TAVI procedure. He is deteriorating daily and I’m worried that because of this they won’t go ahead with the procedure.
Has anyone had any experience of this? Or of the TAVI procedure?
Many thanks.

My mother had a TAVI procedure when she was 91 years old. The op went well but recovery was slow due to her age. The surgeons confirmed that the op was a success and gave her a better quality life for her final years.
