Sotalol 40 mg Update

Hi Everyone, went to the Chemist's for my monthly prescription, expecting there to be no Sotalol and, once again, having to start telephoning around Hull to source a supply, when "hey-diddle diddle", I was informed that the Pharmacist has got a year's stock for me! What an Angel. It will be chocolate biscuits for him at Christmas.

Good news Hullensian

I have tended to underestimate the Pharmacist at times but now I need them more and more I recognise they have a lot of untapped expertise.

My husband "swears by" his (he uses a different one from me). Example being - he had a stent fitted and was prescribed drugs. After 18 months the pharmacist informed him that he should have been taken one of them for 12 months only. Upon checking with the doctor, no-one at the surgery had noticed the note on the repeat prescription which set out this instruction from the Cardiologist. The doctor informed my husband that he, himself, had some responsibility for not noticing this "note". When we explained that my husband never sees his prescription as it is issued and picked-up by the pharmacy, he had to grace to apologize.

Hi I was the same, when I got changed to entresto they had to phone the manufacturer and I had to wait two days, this month I had no bother at all they had them in stock for me, and when I tried to buy dissolving paracetamols they wouldn't sell them to me because of the high sodium content! This had never been mentioned by the docs as something to avoid, good on the pharmesist x

Yeah, I was drinking dissolving vitamins (Berocca etc) just after I was first diagnosed, then happened to read (in Heart Matters magazine, I think) that I shouldn't be having them because of their high sodium content. Think it goes for all fizzy solubles. Did you know we also should not take any decongestants? Goodbye, Lemsip, and the sweet relief you bring! :(

I do find it quite hard to keep on top of it all. Pretty much every medication recommends you seek advice before taking it if you have a heart condition, never sure which ones are really problematic. Thank goodness for pharmacists, they know so much!

Hi it is a bit of a minefield, I always took solpadeine, great for hangovers lol, but never thought for once about sodium content I used to take Andrews as well but I take that is also a no no, I never new about decongestants, again they have never been mentioned? I have probs with a blocked nose, can't breathe at night and the doc had prescribed a spray, mometasone furoate, I hope that is ok! How are you feeling now, I hope you are on the mend, is the wee ones party this weekend 🎂 xx

Hi, I am feeling much better, thanks. Party is Sunday. I know it will be OK but I will be so glad when it's over!

You should ask the pharmacist about your spray. I found out I wasn't meant to take decongestants when my doctor prescribed them for sinusitis and the pharmacist was horrified!

Good luck for Sunday I am sure the kids will have a fantastic time, sometimes I think one dosn't know what the other ones doing, but I will check about the spray ta xx
