voice weak - sounding as if I am suffering from exhaustion- but I am not

Have heart failure - medication, Losartan, Furosemide, spironolactone, nebivolol and rivaroxaban and have a CRT-D device.

For a week or probably more now, I have noticed my voice sounds as if I am exhausted - reminds me of times in the past when I have had brilliant very social and active long weekends and have to 'recover' over the next couple of days!

I do not feel exhausted, but wondered if anyone has had this happen? I sometimes notice a little shortness of breath, but apart from knowing that I am 'trialling' the nebivolol because of the breathing difficulties I had when given bisoprolol, it does make me wonder if that is the reason.

I have looked for the symptoms online but not found anything specific. I am seeing the cardiologist tomorrow so will find out - I hope.

But just wondered if anyone else has experienced this?

Hi I have heart failure, and quite a few times people have asked me if I have the cold or a sore throat as I sound hoarse, I am on slightly different drugs from yourself, entresto, bisoprolol, ferusomide and spirolactane, I to was wondering if it was them that was causing it, but it doesn't happen all the time?, could you let me know if your cardiologist can shed some light on this, ta char x

I'm with Chaz on this, often have people asking me if I'm getting a cold. I have to speak for long periods in my job and feel my throat is tired and a bit croaky most of the time. We have a voice trainer who visits now and again and she did ask me years ago if any of my medication could cause this but I never really investigated further. Would be interested to hear what you find out x

Hi Chaz

I spoke with the cardiologist about this. He first asked me if I was drinking enough regularly as I am on diuretics, and as I am and do, I told him I had already crossed that out as a possible reason.

He considered it again and said - which I respect - that he does not know enough about the side effects of the drugs to say whether one or all of them are having this effect on my throat/voice. He also said it could be that it is exhaustion.....

So, I think I will ask the pharmacist today, because I haven't found this on the warnings with each of the medications.

Hi and thanks for letting me know, I am going to see my cardiologist quite soon I will mention it to, I am on a fluid restriction for heart failure so it could be dehydration as it's worse when I wake, it's a bit of a mystery, char x

You arent alone. I have used my voice, acting and in voiceovers in the past. I think I've isolated (low dose) Bisoprolol and now Nebivolol to be giving me me a dry cougheyness and poor resonance. So they do affect the voice. My cardiologue says she's never heard of heart medications affecting the voice. Well it seems a fair few hypertension ones can affect (some) peoples voices but many people are quite insensitive to the quality of their voices and non-actors will say 'your voice sounds ok' trying to cheer you up. However, if you've trained vocally, you know for certain if your voice isnt working right . I dont know what to do about this because my voice is an expressive tool and now it feels inflexible and if I want to project it I often cough.
