Myocardial perfusion scan results

Hi everyone, I hope someone can shed some light on my results from a myocardial perfusion scan. I had drug induced stress test first and then a rest test. The results say 'shows a small reversible defect in the apical segment of the antero-septal wall. Quantitatively this involved no more than 3% of the total LV myocardium, LV ejection was 70% (stress and rest images), with normal wall motion' it then suggests added drugs I should take. What does this mean in layman's terms and is this classed as aschemic heart disease.

I would be happy to hear from anyone. Thanks

Hello and good evening. I'm afraid I don't have any answers for you on your results. That said I'm sure one of the nurses will be along to be able to help

Hi there,

I would suggest you have chat with your GP/ cardiologist about the results about what they want to do next although it sounds pretty reassuring. The medication they want you to take ( although there are many different ones out there) may be to see if in the first instance they can literally reverse the small area of heart muscle affected. Ischaemic heart disease is more to do with the blood supply itself to the heart muscle( the coronary arteries).

Please feel free to call the heart helpline on 0300 330 3311 Monday- Friday 9-5 if you want to speak to one of the nurses if you want to discuss things further.

I hope this has helped.

Take care,

Philippa
