Palmoplantar psoriasis help

Hi everyone. I’m new to this group but not to Health Unlocked. I have had problems with the skin on the soles of my feet for a few years - very itchy and hot, scratching in my sleep, cracked/ peeling skin. I’ve seen doctors and dermatologist galore who couldn’t seem to decide what it was but I’ve finally been given a diagnosis of palmoplantar psoriasis. If anyone with this condition has any advice how to treat it or had tried anything which has cleared it up or even improved it slightly I’d really appreciate the suggestions.

Over the last 3-4 years I have tried every cream, ointment, steroid and moisturiser known to man and nothing seems to help. I had light therapy (PUVA with oral psoralen) in 2018 which did help but 10 weeks of treatment only cleared my skin for about a month which; given the time, effort and disruption to get the treatment, really wasn’t worth it. I also tried UVB treatment last year but this made no difference at all. At the moment the itch is driving me crazy and the only way I can get rid of it is to put my feet directly under the cold tap in my bath!

Thanks

My husband developed psoriasis on palms about 2 yrs ago and nothing has helped him he finds that chemicals like cleaning and things with perfumes like soap irritates it.

I would be very concerned having this on the soles of my feet and maybe you should see if you can be put on Otezla or something simular.

Sometimes some of the creams we use can cause problems for the skin, the other problem with your feet the skin on them becomes thick ansd that can cause various problems

Try Aquatious Cream or E45 Cream, the former can be used as a soap. and will soften skin

around the Psoriasis. The creams are softeners and that may help. without irritating your skin.

Hello

I use a soap made of Goats Milk and Honey it does seem to clear the itch. You can get the soap on the internet.

I have hard skin on my heels, generally not Psoriasis, although in my case it also affects the toe nails, I generally have my nails cut by a Chiropodist, if the skin is thick the can remove it.

You can also try various ointments to soften the skin, I also use an abrasive skin removal device that seems to work.

I am getting on a bit and have stopped using supplied ointments, however I use E45 CREAM. . and seems to soften the skin.

I also wash various parts of my body with Aquatious Cream I also put it in my bath water that also tones the skin and softens it. Can also be put into your bathwater or applied to skin. Have you also tried EPIDERM similar to E45 CREAM , it contains vaseline and also washes of All available at the chemist without script. My GP generally supplies it for me

The chemist also has various creams for the hard skin as well
