Hi all,

I have been diagnosed with guttate psoriasis and I am taking Dovabet gel. I would be interested to hear if anyone else is taking this.

Thanks

Stephen

I have used it.  At the time the topical steroids didn't seem to help that much.  I'm very struck by the extent to which different people ..... or the same people at different times ... respond differently to various treatments.  So the key question is, is it helping?  I hope so!

Hi,

I have the same type of psoriasis and have used Dovabet too. Same results (or lack thereof) mentioned by postle2 -- I didn't find it worked too well for me. But as postle2 said, it could work just fine for you because everyone responds differently.

That's one of the frustrating things about this condition, but persist with your doctor/dermatologist. You will probably have to try different creams/solutions to find one that works for you.

Good luck!

Hi Book man,yes I have used Dovobet excellent, only thing is its a bit oily but you will see the difference in a matter of two or three days,I stopped using it because it was so messy, but it really was excellent, mind you I am now using hemp oil which is also messy, but good. One thing about the Dovobey  it last's for ages,(sorry my tablet doesn't recognise spelling).best of luck.

hi, I suffer from Guttae Psoriasis and have tried Dovobet. Didn't work for me but you need to try all possible solutions. As others have said, no two people are the same and treatments vary. Dermovate is like magic for me...but it took me a while to find something that worked. Good luck.

Hi and Welcome Bookman!  I also have guttate psoriasis and my dermatologist put me on Clobetasol Propionate Ointment and also Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream for the larger areas on my body. It's good to know that there is something else that I can try. I have not heard about Dovabet gel or Dermovate. So thank you for your post!

Hi, I respond better to Clobetasol than Dovobet.  Had used Dovobet for months, got much better as soon as I started Clobetasol and Methotrexate.

Hi all,

Thanks for the warm welcome and for your replies to my query. My impression is that Dovobet is messy as some have mentioned. Also it is quickly used up if the psoriasis covers a wide area. Anyway I'll be using up the remaining month's supply and see how if looks then.

Take care all.

Stephen

I think perseverance and keeping to the routine are important but very difficult to maintain when a large area is involved unless you see some encouraging signs of improvement.  At first my routine took over an hour a day and I got disheartened & lackadaisical.  Now that I have just a little bit of psoriasis to contend with it's easier to stick with the programme.  I'm only talking 'maintenance' rather than treatment these days, i.e. just emollient, not steroids, but it's become much more obvious to me that being consistent helps.

Has your derm mentioned any possibility of oral medication given that you have extensive psoriasis?  Might be worth considering if you haven't tried this already.

I haven't seen a specialist yet Postle2, only my GP. He did ask if I've ever taken Methotrexate which I haven't. I also have ankylosing spondylitis and I think he was wondering if oral medication might be useful for both conditions. I've not much of the Dovobet left now and I think I will need to go back and see him. He may refer me to a specialist.

I'm wondering whether your diagnosis may change from ankylosing spondylitis to psoriatic arthritis, now psoriasis is confirmed...? Mine changed from RA to PsA in similar circumstances...

Hi flow4. That's interesting. It may well change. This flare up of psoriasis has been much worse than anything I've had before. AS far as the AS is concerned I can only go by what I was told on diagnosis that the x-ray showed signs in the lower spine and pelvis. Since then my main problem has been neck pain and stiffness and occasional inflammation in the knee. Still, you could be right. I hope to see a dermatologist soon and I'm also due to have an annual check-up at the rheumatology clinic fairly soon as well.
