I don't have a live pet, but I have a lifelike stuffed toy cat that came with the name Lily. It's been four years since my husband died, but now that you mention it, I think that when I pet Lily and talk to her, it reduces my sadness over the loss of my three husbands.

Actually, I too had a little dog that I chose as a Christmas gift because he was so lifelike and I gave him many a cuddle and stroke. Strange that animals of all shapes and sizes bring us comfort. I'm not sure if it's because animals are helpless and dependent on humans or because they are so irresistible, I do know it helps. Have a good weekend Jay.

my dog was only one year old when my mum died she has been with me through some troubled times and without her I most definitely wouldn't be here.even now since I just lost my dad she is with me every step of the way.

My dear dog Izzie has helped me through some real dark times since my partner passed nearly 4 years ago.

She keeps me going and can make me smile when I am finding life too difficult.
