High-Dose Vitamin B1 / Thiamine and Fat Soluble Benfotiamine Form
In the present study, we report evidences indicating that
benfotiamine
may have therapeutic potential against AML. Our mechanistic studies suggest that
benfotiamine
inhibits leukemic cell growth by triggering paraptosis cell death.

What a novel concept. : ( I will be doing a trial of 325 mg twice a day for 6 weeks oral as part of the way a 'normal' body processes
Benfotiamine
is in the digestive system. If that does not have an effect I will study injections of
Benfotiamine
and or Thiamine.

Is it Supplementation or just life?
My next trial is with Thiamine in the form of
Benfotiamine
and that is an unknown. My experience with B6 was immediate improvement and emotionally I am hoping for the same with
Benfotiamine
. Although I met my goal of not crashing this winter I did have a downturn and that is on my mind.

Benfotiamine In The Mix For PD Again?
The following new animal study (December 2023) suggests that the fat soluble form of vitamin B1,
Benfotiamine
, may also be suitable for PD : https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0014299923007483?

I figured out how to tolerate antibiotics (trimethoprim in this case) without huge neuropathic pain flare!! (for real this time!)
:) I had tried the combiation of
Benfotiamine
, B12, methyl folate, NAC, and ALCAR prior to R-ALA but it did not prevent the neuropathic pain with antibiotics or Hiprex.

- 600 mg a day
- Life Extension R Lipoic Acid

- Cod Liver Oil
(contains DHA) which helps the myelin sheath repair (I stopped being completely vegan for a while).

I’m thinking about Benfotiamine.
But reading this post, “
Benfotiamine
(Fat Soluble Form Of Vitamin B1) and AD” by “chartist” I am thinking that maybe we should try this form. I guess that my first question is ~ should we get some blood work done first & if so what?

Benfotiamine (Fat Soluble Form Of Vitamin B1) and AD
Benfotiamine
has previously been discussed on this forum regarding PD and this recent study (October 2022) using
Benfotiamine
(BEN) in AD patients shows some significant benefit for people with AD : https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9585656/ Here are two relevant study quotes from this

When does supplementation become toxic or counter-productive?
I’m also waiting to get a blood-level test for B1, B6, B9, B12, so that I can start taking
Benfotiamine
(100mg with 25mg of Thiamine HCL) 4x a day. I have previously tried much larger doses of B1 but haven’t yet found the right dose.

Is it OK to take 2 different types of B1 at the same time? with HDT, B1 Therapy, etc.
His basic protocol is close to HDT, but his Mega Protocols differ greatly in the following ways: 1) Return of Symptoms is considered a Paradoxical Reaction, and requires cofactors to increase the dosage. 2) It is OK to take more than one form of Thiamine (HCL oral, TTFD,
Benfotiamine
, etc,) at the same

Thiamine......a missing piece in the puzzle?
Is the simplest solution to the ongoing dosing and B1 HCL vs
benfotiamine
vs TTFD - efficacy vs side-effects debate, just to take allicin ? The chemical conversion of allicin to allithiamine is an entirely natural one in the body with virtually no side effects.

Can B1 (Thiamine) improve B12 d as a co-factor (along with folate?)
But does anyone supplement with high doses of B1 (Thiamin or
Benfotiamine
)? Would there be any risks to high doses and potential interactions with other vitamins? Many thanks

From S of PD. Could all the benefit of B1 be the placebo affect? I think it's time for me to switch to benfotiamine instead.
"More importantly, the progression in cognitive issues was 43% slower in the
benfotiamine
group than in the placebo group...This result suggested that there was less cognitive decline in the
benfotiamine
-treated group.
