A couple of times I've had the fingers of one hand cramp like a V sign - Dr Spock Star Trek. I'm having a few cramps - probably the meds but my hand just did it again. The first time was quite frightening as I couldn't separate the fingers for quite a while - this time wasn't as bad. Anyone else had this?

About 18 months ago I woke up one morning and my right hand was locked into a fist. I tried to open it but couldn't so my hubby massaged and tried to open it finger by finger to no avail. It was very painful. After a few days I got to see my doctor who said it was a sure sign of rheumatoid arthritis and sent me for blood tests to confirm this. The tests came back negative. Although I had this condition a couple of more times it has gone away as it came ...suddenly. Don't know if this is the same or is of any help. Take care....

I get cramps in my feet, just come on suddenly and is very painful. Recently have had few cramps in my hands, index finger and middle finger.
This could be due to poor circulation, as i had some bumps on my lower legs prior to the cramps in my feet and have noticed bumps on my upper arms. ??????
Not sure about anything anymore, seem to be 1 thing after the other. Hope you get well soon.

Hi Lesley, I developed hand problems last year. First thing in the morning my hands are so stiff I have trouble bending them at all and need to use my other hand which is just as stiff and painful to physically bend the fingers. I have bought a squishy toy shaped like a germ/bacteria and I call it jeremy the BD bug. I have to squish jeremy to get my hands moving and loosen up the finger joints. It hurts like hell but is very satisfying to see Jeremy's face distorting as I sqeeze his lights out LOL. I haven't seen my consultant yet (next month) but recommend some sort of similar device for times this happens to you. Kindest regards, big hugs xx

It is cramp in my feet that bother me. When I have mentioned this to any medic, they have just ignored me!!!

I too get bad cramps in my feet. I have poor circulation (Raynauds) but have never suffered with cramps like these. Might mention to my Consultant as see him in 2 weeks.

I get terrible cramps, they occur in all parts of my body, hands,feet, legs, in the muscles in my back and sides, sometimes It has hurt to breath especially if I have moved to quickly, I also get cramp in the neck when I yawn, I looked up some of the medication I take and Thyroxine can cause this as does asthma inhalers and methotrexate, although my Dr doesn't seem to agree, I have mentioned it to my specialist but I guess it's not as serious as other symptoms so not addressed.

The doctors told me to do two things - eat a banana a day and drink tonic (no gin sorry).
It definitely help the more normal type of cramps.

Hi Xandii - I think it is both potassium and quinine. It was a specialist that told me about the banana and her registrar was right next to her and said about the tonic. I'd actually heard before that both are good.
