Infusion clinic for treatment

Hello I have a biologics Infusion coming up and am worried about being in the infusions clinic in the hospital. Nurses have said all treatment should happen as normal. Has anyone been to hospital to get their treatment? How does social distancing work in a room full of other infusion patients and nurses?

Thanks

Hi Milliebell,

I had my last infusion at the local hospital 3 weeks ago, got my next one 4th May

Like you i was dreading going to the hospital for any reason never mind sitting there an hour for my infliximab

Whilst at the hospital i maintained the social Distancing and avoided the lifts .....9 floors too the infusion room 😫😫😢

At our infusion clinic they've removed some of the infusion chairs so you do have alot more room around yourself , the staff were definitely washing there hands alot more ......basically after touching anything and everything

I wore my own disposable gloves and a mask , and kept the gloves on the entire time even for my oxygen finger reading , which still worked gloves in place 😁😁...i was reassured everything was sterilised after every patient, but still decided to keep them on

It is absolutely normal to feel some apprehension about going into hospital for anything nowadays but i found my hour of treatment was as usual carried out very very professional as usual by the brilliant staff

Hope all goes equally as smooth for you

Stay safe

Kev

Hi Millibell1

Where do you live as Queens Hospital in Romford has moved their biological staff to the Hartswood Private Hospital in Brentwood. In there you all sit in separate cubicles and do not see anyone other than the Hospital staff. they even have televisions and give you earphones that are all clean in plastic bags. Everything precaution is taken. I have to have my bloods taken on Tuesday but I will attend Queens for that and have been given an appointment but then again they have closed the main department and I have to go to the Oncology department at 9:12 sharp. I can only imagine being in separate cubicles again.

check with your Specialist nurse or Sister they must be able to reassure you.

kind regards
