Hi Stephanie86

Can you explain more about your legs, is it all of your legs, is it joints, muscles or both and do you know what is causing the knots on your legs, is this at the back of your calf muscles?

Every time I have mentioned weakness in my legs and ankles I have been advised to strengthen both areas as well as core strength, I also have EDS too, I have also, up until very lately, been doing proprioceptive and balance exercises to teach my body to control the position of my deficient joints which has helped, I was given all of this to do by a musculoskeletal podiatrists, the exercises are simply and yet effective and you can increased / decrease the intensity as you progress and or have further issues.

It is all my legs. Muscles and joint weakness. The knots are the panniculitis ones but I get them on my calves and all the way up my thighs

Yes, I have weakness in my legs -- it feels as though I have run a marathon the day before when I haven't. It's difficult climbing stairs. I was diagnosed with BD last month after being misdiagnosed with Crohn's ten years ago. I've had eye problems, ulcers in my mouth and digestive tract, join pain, and sores on my extremities. Thankful to finally have the right diagnosis, but at a loss for how to manage these symptoms . . .

Oh my gosh yes. I was beginning to think I had another AI disease. They get fatigued especially from the knee down. I despise stairs. The Neuro told me my knee reflexes were abnormal. Too brisk. I assumed that was why. I think that maybe it's part of Neuro Behçets for me. But I don't know for sure

Hi Stephanie86,

I hope that you're well.

Considering that the condition affects everyone differently, I am not entirely sure whether we are experiencing the same symptom, but I'll share what I've been feeling in my legs, just in case you may be able to relate.

Deep calf pain and weakness has been a recurring symptom on my end for several months. The pain runs vertically down the shin bone on the front, and down the back side of the calf in a similar manner. It is localized to this entire linear area and is sensitive to touch (if pressed on with the fingers). Although it is is localized, it is quite a deep pain that causes the entire lower leg to feel weak/drained/compromised.

Is this similar to what you have been experiencing?

Yea its pretty similar. It Definately feels like deeps pain. Weakness mostly in the calf area but my knees buckle a lot when I walk very far or try to climb stairs

Hi Stephanie86,

My doctors have not been able to give me an answer when it comes to what it is that is causing the pain.

I am hoping that you find answers and relief soon.

In the meantime, I have found heat to be a great temporary solution. A heating pad at the end of every night really takes the edge off.

Strengthening the muscles in that area through light exercise also helps. Consistency is key.

Happy New Year!

Hi Scruffymouse

I was like this a while ago, the GP was not able to help, I had MRI's on my feet and my ankles nothing came up other than fluid in sheaths. I just started to look at alternatives so soaked my feet and ankles in epsom salts in hot water twice a day, message and I used lots of aloe vera gel and then I discovered MELT balls and went on a little introduction session and find they have really helped my feet and ankles and you can use them sitting in a chair which helped. The fluid in the sheaths in my ankles and legs which affects my feet and bottom of my heels under the foot, never quite understood how to deal with this and when I discuss it with anyone I'm never given a solution other than have you asked the rheumatologist, yes, and it must be associated with BD or EDS...

in reply to gillianTS

Thank you ever so much for the advice .I will order some melt balls and give them ago . I have recently started inflectra infusions do hopefully between them both , they will work . Fingers crossed.

Happy and healthy new year to everyone .

Hi Scruffymouse

I wanted to say please be very careful with the MELT balls I don't use the hard large or small balls they are too hard and you should start with the large soft ball only and only introduce the small soft ball when you are happy to do so, it is not about the pressure you place on the ball it is the action of using them so suggest watching some videos on youtube or the website for MELT, if it will help I can send some PDF basic instructions via email.

Have a Happy New Year too x
