I think I am becoming a hypochondriac, and don't want to go to the doctor for every little thing. So I am wondering if it is possible to take them on your own.
The only thing that is needed are punctuation of the skin, a acupuncture or syringe needle is needed. Or does it have to contain saline or dilute histamine?
Since it will only show in periods of an outbreak, it would probably be better to do this on my own anyway, since I then can take them when I think I might have an outbreak.
Forgive me if I appear rude, but I'm not 100% sure that this is a genuine or serious question so I won't give a long or detailed response.
If you are serious, then my answer is absolutely do not do it.
Last year I had a blister on the eye, was told it was an allergic reaction. Had blister on the lips (but think that is an allergic reaction). Had ulcers (both dad and brother have them too a couple of times a year) and a couple of white patches in my mouth, the ulcers hurt as hell when they came in contact with certain things, the white patches, not at all. Got floaters in both eyer, doughnut ones, hundred or something(?) in each of eye, but usually not visible, and some gelly looking worms one, not that bothersome either. Also had a long period with slight pain before the blister in the eye, that ended with, in one of the eyes a sharp stabbing pain behind the eye, especially when trying to force out tears. No one could see anything wrong with the eyes, and they thought it was an infection or something that caused the pain.
Also have a weird thing that is hard to describe. It is like a needle is pinching me a little under the skin. Started in the legs at two points, then sometimes one spot in the underarm, and after that a spot under the testicles. It doesn't hurt at all. Just extremely annoying. And has happened fewer times now than last year. But doctor said that was all in the head. But it is very prominent, although I can't find anything about it anywhere. That is why I rather not go to the doctor. Feels he is getting sick of me.

How hard is it really? It is not dangerous, it does not hurt, and it is only the skin.
Would going to acupuncture show the same effect? When taking a blood sample a while ago, it showed lack of vitamin D. Before I read about this disease. That time I believe it came a small red dot, but not too surprised about that.
Can't remember too many weird issues on the skin. Had some weird colours in the right foot, but that was only a discoloration. And a tiny crust on the left thigh that when removed looked like some weird blood thing. Like just one of these at one spot:

Hi Rolasen, we are all genuine BD suffers here so we are genuine listeners aswel when people ask questions. However, you are asking a question and answering it at the same time. It wouldn't be very clever to do the test yourself but it you feel its ok then go ahead. I just don't think it would be taken seriouly with our medical professionals. As for anything else, I'm not sure what your asking. Do you have BD or do you think you do?...
I don't know if I have. I feel that many of these things are completely unrelated to each other, and that they aren't really uncommon. Except for the weird completely local on the same spot needle thing that pops up every now and then. Loss often now than in the beginning.
Every of these symptoms can be explained to be something normal, but just weird that they all came last year. And most of them only have happened once.
Since the doctor didn't believe the sticking feeling, I have been searching all over the web for this. Same with the eye floaters that I didn't get an answer on.
It was about maybe two or three months since I had the needle feeling at the four places, all at once. If they would only appear on one place at the time, and not the exact same location every time, I would be more at ease. Four days ago I started getting the needle feeling alone in the leg at only one spot. It only lasted for about an hour both days mid day. Nothing after that so far.
I just want to either find out that I don't have anything to worry about, or find out what it is so I can relax.

Surely you would want the doc to be doing the test so they can see the results. I can't imagine they will be happy with you just telling them the results especially when you don't seem to have many BD symptoms.

Internet searches can be very misleading and sometimes incorrect. There are many autoimmune conditions and many possible reasons for your symptoms; I’m interested to know what lead you to believe you might have BD. Do you meet the diagnostic criteria? A positive pathergy test does not make a diagnosis. Assuming that you do meet the criteria, have you discussed this specifically with your doctor?

The objective of having this test done is to establish the susceptibility of the skin to the puncture wound which in itself may be a good indication that BD is active.
The test is ONLY recognised if performed by a medical professional and monitored over the 48 hour required statutory period and the results of the test logged on your medical record.
Only a medical professional well versed in recognising the various types of result with this test will make it viable and many do not have such expertise so an amateur attempt at deciphering the end result would be of no interest whatsoever.
For this reason alone I see no possible logical reason why you would want to perform this test on yourself as it would have no standing whatsoever in contributing to a final BD diagnosis.
The results are also intermittent and where you could get a positive reaction one time you may well get a negative one the next so any results you may get will be erratic and of no use whatsoever to a professional diagnosis if that is your overall intention.
My recommendation is to stop entertaining any idea of sticking needles in yourself as it serves no logical purpose at all. Okay hun ?

I don't want to because I don't get answer on any of the weird thing happening. And the doctor tends to believe it is all in my head. If I do the test on my own first I would be more confident going to the doctor and ask for him to take the test. Would not tell him I had taken the test.
Those nerve things. Talked with a physical therapist about it. He said it could be normal, but not when it is on the exact same spot when it happens. And more weird that, when it start on one spot, usually the leg, it also start on one spot on the forarm and another spot on the leg.
And for floaters. The ophthalmologists did not see anything with the eye. Only one claimed that they actually did see the floaters. But ophthalmologist not seeing floaters in people younger than 30 seems to be very common. And ok, as long as it is not sun and bright outside, I usually does not notice them. But what does one call floaters that shine and dissapear? Not like one of those seeing stars flashes, or a big flash. More like a luminated floater that floats like regular floaters, but dissapear. Also had blood in stool for years. Since the doctors took tests and did not find anything on tests, and a blood test came out normal so they said they could not help with anything. Newly I showed picture of it, and they freaked out and wanted to send to rectoscopy. If it had been anything serious, I'd be dead for about 7 years ago at least.
Newly, I have also gotten some things that looks like it is about to become an acne, but they are not filled with anything it seems. As of now, just red dots.

Having BD is a long shot. But I can't just accept that the floaters are age related (and some symptoms with the eyes, I can't find anywhere, got stabbing pain in one of the eyes and weak pain over a long time in both, and a blister in one of them at that time). That the nervous thing, if it is, feels more like blood trying to squeeze itself through the vain at one spesific point, is just normal when it definetely does not feel like it. And so on.
Both searhing around for reasons for eye floaters and the weird nervous, not pain, put local needle pinching, and never find a spesific mention of what it feels like. I came over BD that also mentioned mouth ulcers. Had a couple of those in the last part of last year. Can't remember if it was two or more. Tinnitus is also mentioned, but that is fairly stable and has been for a long time, only thing that sometimes come is a humming/motoric weak sound that goes away.

Then be it. I do know that it needs to be active for it to show on a test. My fear is that if I do have bechet, and it is not active, it will only be added to the list of hypochondriasis.
At the time when I got mouth ulcers (had to be the second when I also had the white pathces), I already felt that it was me it was something wrong with worreying to much. And called the doctor and asked for an appointment in about a month, so they were gone and I canselled the appointment. But as long as I don't get any answer on my symptoms, I will probably always worry to much.
Taking skin path test over a period of time with sterile needles would at least give me some closure. Did not really want to make this into a huge discussion. Just if it is safe or not given that you use sterile needles the skin is clean and if you need saline or dilute histamine.
wow, i see everyone's point of view ! First i understand when so many things that could be from a million different conditions ....drive you crazy, and you really start to think your going crazy and you feel misunderstood. You just want answers so you can get better. I also understand that as BD is rare ,that finding a doctor who has understanding is like winning the lotto. I also agree that it will serve no purpose to test yourself. My mouth and eyes got really bad ulcers and i did take a photo to show my doctor and that was helpful. I have had the same doctor for many years and he takes me seriously so i am lucky. I would go to a different doctor and just be honest. Tell the doctor that you think you may have BD and that you changed doctors because you feel your old doctor was not taking appropriate tests to diagnose your condition or taking your concerns seriously.
