Hello, sooo I just started taking birth control exactly a week and a day ago and I had unprotected sex today. I was wondering if I am fine or if I should take a plan b ? CAN SOMEONE PLEASE ANSWER ME??

When I started my birth control pill, I was told that I still had to use protection for the first 48 hours but after that I would be ‘protected’ obviously nothings 100% but me and my partner I don’t use anything other than my pill as protection x

Sooo should I I be worried or no? I’ve done research and it stays I should I be good as long as I started the pill when I started my period and i did that and the pill should be effective right away. Or to be safe wait up to 7 days and then it should be good too, it’s been 8 days, I should be fine right ? My boyfriend and friends all said I should be but I just want to make sure or something.

I wouldn’t be worried 😊 me and my partner had unprotected sex 3 days after I started my pill and we’ve been fine. I’d say that you’re safe and no need to worry

Also do you take the progesterone only pills or the combination pills? I take the combination and those ones are 7 days but should be effective as Long as you take it when you start your period.

I take progesterone only. But yes, my understanding of the combined pill is that if you start taking it any later than the 5th day of your period, you’ll have to use protection for 7 days. But if you take between the first day - the 5th day then you are protected straight away. So you’d have been protected straight away and if it offers any more reassurance you’ve been taking it for 8 days too. It can always be nerve racking and I felt the same way, the first time I had unprotected sex after starting it. But I’d definitely say you would’ve been protected😊

Daisy's advice is correct. If you started the combined pill on days 1-5 of your cycle you are protected straight away. Any other time and you need to wait for 7 days to be protected.
