Contraception?

I am currently on the progesterone only pill but really want to come off all forms of hormonal contraceptives. How long after having sex with only the pill as contraceptive should I wait becoming coming off the pill ?

Edit* not looking to conceive having issues with weight , mental health etc .

Not sure I understand your question... are you asking because you want to conceive?

How long have you been on the pill? I’m considering coming off after early 5 years on it...

Assuming you want to know how long after stopping taking the pill can you get pregnant? That depends on how long you've been taking it. why... you might ask? Well, when someone takes any kind of medication regularly over a period of time, that medication builds up in the system... it's called 'half life'.

So, say you were on the pill for quite some time and you wanted to get pregnant( not that you do) it would probably take about a month or so for your own hormones to kick in.... and become fertile once more. That's just an average.. some people take longer, some even quicker....

But you say you're not looking to become pregnant.. which leads me to my next question.

Are you thinking that being on the pill is causing you to 'put on weight'?... if so, that's a possibility

Is that you've put on weight and are unhappy about that, now causing you to feel depressed?

What I'm trying to find out is .... are you suffering from depression and looking for reason?

Before you answer.... think carefully.... which came first, the weight gain or the depression?

If you lost weight, do you think that would make you feel better?

What would be the impact on your life if you came off the pill and then fell pregnant?

Yes, it does... Why? because when someone is suffering from depression... everything in their life becomes negative..and I mean everything....it's hard to see the wood for the trees. Can you see where I'm going on this?
