I’ve had chlamydia before, have been treated re tested and was clear. I then had sex again protected this time. I’ve been tested and my results came back positive. How is it possible to keep getting chlamydia when I take my treatment correctly and have protected sex?

So was this sexual contact the only sexual contact since your last chlamydia test ? Is this sex with the same partner as before or a new one ?

If you've been treated and had a clear test in between it has to be a re-infection.

You are certainly unlucky because condoms are very effective at preventing transmission of Chlamydia. Was there any occasion where the condom broke or came off?

I read that you are supposed to wait 3 months between tests. Or maybe you didn't knock it out?

From what I understand once you get it you carry it forever. Meaning it won’t do any harm to u but ur TIDER will always read that u are from that point on a carrier and can potentially pass it to someone else

Like I said is just my own understanding of my own situation

thats only with certain STDS such as AIDS, HIV, and very few others. chlamydia, the one in question, is treatable. they either got tested to soon after treatment, had other sexual contact, condom broke, or the test was incorrect (unlikely but possible)

Theres a few reasons this could happen. most likely is the meds didn't work fully and u got tested too soon after treatment, but the condom could’ve broke, a little fluids got outside of it (unlikely but it happens), or there was other sexual contact (saliva and stuff is possible!!)
