Anyone Stopped Suppressive Therapy? Hsv2

Has anybody taken aciclovir daily and come off it? Have been taking for around a year and thinking to come off this and see how my body reacts. Am I now about to get heaps of outbreaks??

Let me know how it goes if you do because I’ve been on it just over a year and I’m thinking I need a break from it too! Got a next app at the end of may and they’re going to give me one months worth to take when I feel a break out coming, bit nervous but hopefully I won’t get as many break outs without the tablets! X

Hey KT, came off them when you wrote that and have had 3 OB since! 1 lasted quite a while but the others were quite small. Thinking to ask about going back on them if it happens again

Thanks for getting back to me! I’m going on a break next month as I’ve been taking them over a year so fingers crossed! They do say the first year is always the worst so good luck and I hope yours calm down!

I don’t get them at all when I’m on it but get occasional ones when I come off it, yes. Very small ones but it always eventually shows back up. Sometimes as soon as I stop the meds too. Just stay on them if worried, it’s the only way to guarantee that you’re on top of it from my experience
