Chlamydia, antibiotics oral sex

Hi, so yesterday I gave oral sex to a guy then to find out he had Chlamydia.. he has taken his antibiotics and it has been 12 days in total- so he has done his week of medication. Do you think I have it? I will get checked regardless but what are the possibilities. Is he clean yet?

Whether he is still infected with Chlamydia depends on which strain as there is a more virulent strain as such many clinics now issue 3 weeks of antibiotics and taken another sample to determine which strain, when they have the results of this (can take a couple of weeks) the patient then normally gets a text to tell them whether they need to finish the course of antibiotics or stop.

As there is the possibility that he could still be infected I agree with you that you should go and get tested.

Just incase you don't know, clinics don't do follow-up tests to see if the patient is still infected or not because it can show up as a false positive for 6 weeks after the infection has been treated.

Lastly please be aware that some find the term "clean" to be offensive as if they are "dirty" because they have an infection! (I understand that it is used a lot nowadays and that it has its roots in being given a "clean bill of health" but have been told of myself for using the term by someone I know who found it offensive).
