But in the past 2week I had my periods for 2weeks though and then after my periods had stopped I end up getting this light pink bleeding I though nothing of it because it there for a couple of days so me and my partner though it was alright to have intercourse but after that the light pink bleeding was there, like it had never went away..... Firstly I wondered if it was the Mirena of traditional coil you have. The reason I ask is traditional coils can make periods worse. I had heavy periods and was recommended the Mirena after child birth as they help control them.

I've no experience of the traditional coil but if I was experiencing bleeding that heavy I would go back to my GP! The pink bleeding though I would guess is just sex unsettling it and causing a light bleed. I've found that in the past if I had sex shortly before or after my regular period.

If you haven't tried the Mirena it might be worth considering. Like all forms some love it and some hate it. I use it for nearly ten years to control heavy periods and contraception and other than some weight gain I had no negative side affects. In terms of controlling bleeding they earn you it can take some time to settle, up to six months. They give you a little calendar sheet to keep a record. At first my bleeding was all over the place but never really heavy like I'd had before, just no pattern. As the months went on a pattern formed, my period was lighter, with just some days spotting with the light pink in between. Then six months to the day my periods stopped completely. I would have spotting occasionally but never enough to need protection and I think this was just probably if I was having sex around that time in my cycle. It's hard to know your cycle without the periods. I went on to have a second coil with no impact on my bleeding.

The only reason I stopped we I'm a lot older than you so I'd been putting hormones in my body via the pill then coil for years and wanted to give my body a break and being in my 40s I was going to find it hard to know when the menopause started without my periods. Thankfully since it's removal I've not reverted back to awful periods. They're pretty regular, only one day of heavy bleeding then a few days light.

If it is the Mirena you have then it's clearly not working in terms of your periods and I think you need to review it. You shouldn't have to endure bleeding that heavy or prolonged and it could be a sign of something underlying that should be ruled out.

Let me know how you get on x
